Is the polarization everywhere we look and try and make change the beginning of the Singularity?

I can grasp the possibilities of the objective singularity at the end of a black hole better than I can see clearly the beginning of the singularity our ever faster rate of everything, from technology to terror, will begin to creep up on us.
Allegory rules.
I would be interested to see what posters think the Singularity is going to be and how, or if, we will realize the event horizon in our society.
I am aware of what the concept of runaway technology could cause, but do not agree with that which we dont know. I mean: why AI, who knows what rapid runaway tech will bring?
I dont doubt it has the probability of being a bad thing since tech is way ahead of our ability to control it. It is, however, part of us - at least in the beginning. Suppose we do create either man or machine with an advantage over the rest of us? Will that bring about the worst or the best of mankind?
There is a part of me that thinks, logically, if intelligence breeds logic, we would support our survival and come out better than the current thinking that it will be the end.
No one knows whether one passes through a black hole or is crushed by its enormity.
