Carrington event + radiant barrier = ?

I have that radiant barrier stuff in my attic and was wondering what will happen if there's another Carrington type event. I figure that the wiring in the house is a pretty good chance at doom, but what about Mylar/metallized plastics?
Is my attic going to look like a microwave with a spoon left on the plate? If so, maybe that's a good thing because the Christmas decorations will be the first thing to go.
