I don't get people who don't do it. They seem to think that as long as they do their job well, they'll get noticed. It doesn't work like that and then they're stuck for 20 years in the same job and position.

If you do something well, you should keep shouting about it. Otherwise, nobody will pay attention. Not a single successful person has ever been shy about his accomplishments. That's why they are seen as successful. Tell people about your success, show it, even embellish it.
