If it had happened in Walnut Grove, I would have been a little more concerned. I mean, Oleson's mercantile could have been destroyed, the Ingall's cow could have been spooked and stopped producing milk. Those little houses on the prairie don't stand a chance against terrorists.

Right, the lower levels may have had too much gas to support combustion.

I know this because (another story) some idiot tried to kill himself in my basement by opening a gas line in the basement and tried to light it with a lighter.

Dumb ass didn't realize he let out far too much and it wouldn't lite as he was by the opened pipe.

Other wise, the whole house would have blown to bits, with me in it.

Kirby said they are investigating a report that the explosion might have been caused by a hash oil lab, but his investigators had not confirmed that yet.

there are no meth labs and no hash labs in walnut creek... only ferrari and maserati dealers. Seriously, this is a HIGH dollar area of CA. Gotta be a gas leak...

one of those non refillable propane tanks holds enough gas to remove an apartment in a brick building.

In Boca Raton FLA, we had a meth lab explosion a few months ago that completely tore a single-family home off its foundation. Strikes me as odd because the area is very upper-middle class, solid and stable by nature. I expect growhouse busts around here, but methamine isn't a liberal rich hippie's first choice and is pretty much the only form of drug trade that is dominated by rural rednecks.
But given how meth labs can be found anywhere, I wouldn't rule it out.

I live near there. They are (I suspect Section 8 - or some other low income housing).

Very very true. Up scale city, home to pro athletes, doctors, attorneys. However walnut creek had a similar explosion a few years back. Utility gas line being upgraded, Few workers died.

Suspicious how this high profile city has two large explosions within the last few years.

Wonder who lived in the apartment? Some one of interest?
