Woohoo! I saw it!

Looking south toward Dayton OH it was a big green ball falling nearly straight down, vanished before it reached the ground.

Didn't realize it was big enough to make the news... gotta go look.

Can I see pics?

There was surely more than one today, the one I saw was at 6:15ish PM, this NC video was too bright outside. (NC being farther east than western Ohio, should have been darker)

well, i don't know what that was, except that it was a HUGE MASSIVE explosion high up in the atmosphere.

They are the "helpers" arriving here. Notice how most are reported throughout the states? This is where the help is needed most.

Reports are arriving to the American Meteor Society of a brilliant fireball occurring near 9:36am Central Standard Time (15:35 UT) on November 3, 2014. So far, reports have arrived from the states of Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, and Arkansas stating that the fireball was of short duration. Actually I felt that way before coming on this thread...my Internet has been unusually sluggish today and I have a very good connection...then heard td bank signin down, Bank of America site was down....seems like something is up...

I agree they should come up with a new word for the really huge ones, superhuge, massive, enourmous or something.

Still unable to connect to AMS here, but from my notes on huge AMS events, there is a fairly clear division.

Before tonight, there has been 40 huge events with over 100 reports to the AMS, in the 10 years they have been keeping records, they break down like this-

There has been 20 huge events with between 100-200 reports.

There has been 7 huge events with between 200-300 reports.

There has been 5 huge events with between 300-400 reports.

There has been 1 huge event with between 400-500 reports, that was an event on July 18th of this year with 441 reports.

There has been 1 huge event with between 500-600 reports, that was an event on September 24th of this year with 600 reports.

There were no huge events registering between 601-802 reports.

Then the truly enormous ones which make up the top 5-

5 - 9/26/13 with 803 reports
4 - 9/28/13 with 870 reports
3 - 3/23/13 with 1240 reports
2 - 9/28/13 with 1424 reports
1 - 12/26/13 with 1512 reports

Note that 4 of the top 6 happened between 9/24-28 in 2013 and 2014, I've dubbed this period the Steadman Shower.

The dividing line between "huge" and a new category "enormous" seems to be over 400 reports.

33 huge events between 100-383 reports

7 huge events between 441-1512 reports.

Only 2 huge events between 384-802 reports.

Tonights event when all reports are in should certainly fall within what should be a new category of "enormous".

370 reports.
