I'm fed up with the way this country is going. I'm starting my own "off the grid" community. I am planning on having 6000 people live here, for FREE. The prerequisites are easy: Must be a good citizen with high standards for human behavior but is accepting of those who do not share your faith, or lifestyle (ie I'm an atheist). Will accept people of all races, backgrounds, sexual orientation, educational levels and religions WITH one huge caveat-- NO MUSLIMES. Land is provided, you build your own shelter and your own food supply. No money is accepted nor needed. Bartering is the key. Helping your neighbor when in need. Basically, going back to what the USA was founded upon. What the USA should be without all the political bull shit. More details to come. I will be posting the contact info in an email form here to find interested parties. NOT everyone will be accepted and it will be first come, first serve. OP, you have just violated federal fair housing laws and are in for a rough time. Sorry. |

The climate in NW WY isn't suitable for growing food anyway, so you'll need to build many greenhouses at the very least. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 60100840 It's a noble offer, but not feasible. this could be where new types of farming might come in handy. since the climate is colder than anything ive ever endured in the winter, hydro / aqua ponics may be a way to go. remember build up not out, grow things on the roof, the walls etc. underground even. also smaller types of livestock might be in order if your going to seriously have 6,000 people on 55 acres. goats, chickens , and hogs would be good choices. intruiging ideas running through my head. how are you with wiccans and necromancers? also what is your definition of a "good" person? i only ask not becuase my husband and i are of questionable character but becuase we also have kids to think about and try really hard to keep them away from morally corrupt people. |

Once the hierarchies fall into place, you'll begin to see just how and why cults form. Not saying it's a bad thing, just inevitable. So many communities form this way and most of them turn to shit People find out they cant do any better than our Gov, actualy they run things worse then our Gov One such community got disbanded by the Feds when people were starting to fight and argue over property lines and guns went off. It was someones chicken who crossed over into someone elses property. The commune got overloaded with junk and trash as well. When the commune got disbanded, it ruined peoples lives cause many spent their whole life savings to get there, trusting the founders of the community. The people that do have it down is the Amish communities. Its right here in the USA but all the preppers rarely talk about how successful they are, We can learn from them. |

How are you going to have 6000 people live on 55 acres? I don't think you understand how small that is. I mean unless you plan on putting up a high rise apartment building or something, which people won't move to Wyoming to live in. At the very best you might convince people to live in a house on a 1/4 acre lot. If you subdivide that 55 acres, and account for streets, etc., you might get 200 house lots out of it. At an average family size of 6 (I'm assuming it's prolific procreators you're going after), you still have at most 1200 people living on this 55 acres. To get to your 6K, you would need 30 people per 1/4 acre. Have you ever seen a 1/4 acre lot? No one worth having in this community would be willing to live under such conditions. This is the most idiotic thread I've seen all day. Winter is Coming. |

Even if you can get permitted for composting toilets, you will still need a permittable method of dealing with your greywater (which, in many places, requires a septic system because sinkwater is considered blackwater instead of greywater). If you think you can just move out to your own land and shit in your own woods, think again. That is prohibited in all places (except, perhaps, Pennsylvania). Not trying to discourage you, but please look into the county code requirements for septic and LOOK before you LEAP. One neighbor snitch is all it takes for the health department to do a 3 day eviction and kick you off your own land. ....Ask me how I know....been there, done that, got the t-shirt. |

We have a lot of land, but not much rain. Supplemental feeding is a must. NW Wyoming is a little wetter than where I am, but it's still not real productive land. The ranches have to be really big to support cattle. That's why goats are a popular animal in that area. If you raise angora goats, you can rent them out to eat weeds, shear them for wool, and collect government subsidies for angora wool. The Angora subsidy has been around since WW1, when wool underwear was an important part of any soldiers wardrobe. Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. "America is at that awkward stage.
