Why do Americans think voting makes a difference?

Because we are still hoping that we can vote with a pencil and paper instead of from the roof tops. Probably stupid of us, but hey, lets give peace a chance huh?

Imo. Voting (once a 4 Years) is just the final Process
but Politics start in your own Community.

Nothing is true. Everything is permitted. Once you understand these words you will see that everything is fixed from sports to politics. Nothing you can say or do will change the outcome.

Even though you KNOW 90% of the Fed Senators and House members are bought and paid for, you still vote for the simple hope that maybe something will change.
The Republicans taking the Senate won't change the course of the nation, and the damage done these last 6 years would take 200 years of conservative governance to fix. But you still hope and you do what you can.
Local governments with the right people in power can still do quite a bit, but the Fed Govt is done.

I have never thought it made a difference. Even back the one time I voted in 1991 was because my husband was so into Ross Perot...I could have cared less.

The smart ones know it makes no difference. The rest are either blindly optimistic or party sheep.

I guess, not voting means giving into them. Voting is the result of a revolutionary war that created a country without a monarchy, but with elected officials. (yes I know the Clintons and bushes are our unofficial monarchy).

Even if it doesn't seem to matter now, anything could change! Every year I hope that the people will rise to the occasion to fight the corruption and straighten us up. In the meantime we need to keep the voting system alive.

I can see it just fine.

But alot of people still believe what they were taught in government and history classes, and believe that change is accomplished via the voting process.
