Is it legal to record the phone calls in Illinois ? | |
Abi ~ User ID: 63831305 United States 11/08/2014 09:38 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm in Illinois and for court purposes, when I asked this, I was told that you have to tell the recordees they are being recorded and then it is legal and permissible in court..they termed it the "nanny law".. so, yes, if the person knows they are being recorded, it is legal. Same as when you call customer service...they tell you the call is being recorded..that makes it legal. ETA.....However, it the person being recorded does not agree to it, you have to stop and it will not be legal to proceed to record them.
