-Counts 13 through 57 include both Kent and Jo Hovind. They are charged with structuring cash transactions of $430,500 to avoid reporting requirements.

-Count 58 includes the following charges against Kent Hovind:
Filing a frivolous lawsuit against the IRS, demanding damages for criminal trespass.

-Filing an injunction against an IRS agent.

-Making threats against investigators and those cooperating with the investigation.

-Filing false complaints against the IRS for false arrest, excessive use of force and theft.

I believe Kent is going to be released, but confined to his home (House Arrest) in January 2015.

What about all of the other notable individuals who have gained a widespread following advocating/teaching creationism? Why haven't they been 'silenced' by the government if there was such an agenda underfoot? They had not been prohibited from doing what they do. Could it be because they did not scheme to commit tax evasion while running a profitable business operation?

i have learned much from mr.hovind and i respect him both as a christian,who does a great deal of work for his faith and convictions,and as a professor,and always enjoy his lectures and how vividly and fervently he speaks about such important subjects

They had a lot of people working at the amusement park most of it went to paying them but non the less Creation can not be disproven like Evolution can be disproven.

I liked him and what he had to say when I saw him speak and bought his pack of videos about 15 years ago.

This was all unnecessary, and repeatedly avoidable, but he chose every bit of this fight, and yes they are sticking it to him bad.

I'm disappointed because, in the end, he was greedy and big $$ was very important to him...

He could easily have been compliant, paid taxes he could have afforded, and still done very well for himself, while doing a great job delivering a great message

Thanks for resorting to name-calling... I never said anything bad about the individual in question. Someone was trying to claim he was being persecuted only for his ideology and I simply pointed out he engaged in tax evasion and failed to pay other taxes while trying to hide his business operation behind his 'ministry'. What he did to get himself into legal trouble was dishonest and lacked integrity. Where did I ever challenge the man's beliefs? No where... Relax a bit okay?

When you employ salaried and hourly employees in a business operation you have to file & pay taxes on that income... He chose not too and that's why they were making cash withdrawals so frequently and paying them in cash. He tried to avoid categorizing his employees as 'employees' and instead tried to claim they were 'missionaries'.

A fair assessment....
