I was working in Utah and grabbed some bananas. They checked out at $8.95. I got the bananas that were not gassed. Next time I will be careful and pick up the chemically enhanced and pesticide gassed variety. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 65267195 United States 11/18/2014 09:55 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have been noticing this for a long time....and notice something else...not a word in the media. I am sure for a few reasons, one being - it wouldn't look good on their savoir for them to start pointing out the fact that a pound of butter costs 5$ and one cucumber is $1 and some how with these prices families need to eat a healthy meal four times per day....also....they are living in a bubble just like politicians in DC, their salary allows them to shop at Whole Foods, while many others are looking at clearance food and 50% off meat. Quoting: Crunch-n-Munch 62619182 Right on... the media is keeping their lefty lips zipped because they don't want their Anointed One to be associated with these high prices But if it was Bush or a Repuke at the helm they'd be howling like banshees, giving us sob stories about poor families eating dog food because they can't afford nutritious food, etc. etc. I hate the f***in' media with a passion. |

I've got two large saddle bags cable locked onto the rear rack. And the bike cable locked onto Amish hitching posts while I'm in the store. That's my latest money saving idea that I've implemented..... |

But, I need a greenhouse to grow sweet potatoes or yams. Too cold here in the mountains. We did grow a whole bunch of regular potatoes, though. Got heritage seeds from Peru, russets, and golden. Trying to stay away from eating white carbs, though. Rats. |

Planning to make candied yams, so I bought 4 medium sized yams. They cost me $14.26! I can hardly believe it! Add on butter and brown sugar, and it'll cost nearly $20 for some friggin' yams. Unreal! Quoting: Sarah Conner I get that you want it to be from scratch. But, as a southern cook from a family of southern cooks, really great cooks, a budget tip. Sugary Sam Yams. Buy the big can. Pour off the juice, and then do everything the same way you do with the expensive yams. About $2.50. |

A week later it was 2.99 a pound. Eventually they have two choices when people won't pay the price, sell it dirt cheap or throw it in the dumpster. Don't pay the high price, and be on the alert for stuff on sale.. and yes, there's always good stuff on sale. Also use coupons, you can save big, BUT read the fine print and verify dates the coupons are good. Also if they don't have the coupon product ask for a substitute or a guarantee when the product is restocked. And the place was full, they're supposed to be #1 and they serve filler materiel. Something more approaching real food is at Humberto's, a local Mexican place - for about $7 including tax, a real meat burrito, refried beans and rice, plus some toppings if you like. But then I went to Safeway and they have Australian brass-fed been on sale right now for $4.99/lb, so I worked up some big beef-and-potato burritos for about three dollars each. |

I live in expensive area. The tomatoes I eat cost $6.99 a pound right now, they went up $1 a pound this past week. Bread is more then $5 and so on. I hate the fact that eating a normal food costs so much. I drink matcha latte every morning, it is $5.85. WTF? It is just some milk with green tea. I do consider organic food a normal food, that everyone should afford. Our hard earned money go for just eating normal food. I do feel angry that people can't afford to eat right. |
