For life is terrible: some time or other it will force us to see reality, and the more we delay, the more difficulties we will encounter

As long as human beings do not receive the light of initiatic Science to make them aware of what they lack, they can remain content with how they are. But as soon as they receive this light, they are appalled, for they are forced to see they have wasted their time and energy on all sorts of useless or harmful activities. Then, all they want to do is close their eyes or run away. Well, no, however discouraging the reality we discover may be, we must not close our eyes or run away, for it’s still better to see clearly. If we refuse to accept reality, how can we improve situations? You will say, ‘But we’ll suffer!’ Yes, but it’s better to suffer and be in the light. There is nothing to be gained from remaining in illusions, for life is terrible: some time or other it will force us to see reality, and the more we delay, the more difficulties we will encounter.
