None of this shit really matters in this info age. If TPTB or whomever wants you to go down for something, all they have to do is manufacture false electronic data.

Allowing them to spy on phones, PCs, tablets/ w/e just makes the manufactured evidence admissible.

Someday they could just say "meh fuck trials" and disappear whomever they want. We all know there are executive orders that give the Pres that power right now.

Just tell the neighbors: "Homegrown terrorist" or "Child Pornography" or "White Male Christian Gun Enthusiast".

Say I live there and had a beef with my neighbor who was a cop. He now can gang stalk me by my phone. He can see where I am at, who I am with, how fast I am moving, where I have been, Who I was talking to, listening to my conversations, seeing my texts, and finally listening to me using my phone as a two way radio he is in control of

Hory crap you really think that is ok to be in the hands of a police officer?

CMPD has said the equipment does not collect data like text messages and does not allow officers to hear, or record conversations. The department also says it does not store information from people who are not part of their investigation.

Additional Info:

The Charlotte Observer and its news partner, WBTV, filed a petition last month in Superior Court to unseal Mecklenburg County records dating to 2006. Senior Resident Judge Richard Boner this week ordered the records unsealed.

But many questions remain unanswered.

The files contain no records showing CMPD received court permission to use a StingRay from when it first purchased the device in 2006 until 2010. That means there is no way to readily determine how often police used the device, if they were justified or if they had judicial oversight during that time span.

This isn't just N.C. either folks.

It's all of Hussein's "I've been to 57 states"

Thankfully, Judge Boner (lol) is exposing it.

Perhaps it was used on him/someone he knows, or his court was unusually flooded with people from all over with bizarre stories of why they were there and possibly jailed, or even tipped off about stingray.

Every judge in every municipality and county circuit court needs a copy of this, so they're aware of how many innocent people are being ticketed or jailed by this highway robbery listening device.

Get rid of the smart phone, and if you need a cell phone get an old "dumb" phone. When you turn off a smart phone, it stays on, just the display goes off. A 'dumb' phone is off unless you turn it on. They can't track a phone that is actually off. Your smart phone is being tracked all the time. There are three ways to track a smart phone, and court records show they do record that info. It has been used in court to prove where someone was at a particular time. They can remotely control your smart phone, including the camera!

there were armies of nosy old ladies listening to people as soon as telephone lines were installed.

when telephone lines were first installed, they were called 'party lines'. you would pick up the phone and there might be other people on the line, 3, 4 or more people all on the phones at one time.

The switchboard operators could hear everyone's conversation, there were not computerized switches for the connections.

you basically have always had the same set up, even with your internet now there is some bitch watching everything you do.

and they have always been able to listen and record everything over your landline phones, even when they were on the hook. All fed through NSA computers but also hordes of monitoring freemasons if you were anyone who knows anything about anything.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9026518

Nosy people came in all ages and both genders, darlin'. Phone operators really had their hands full to listen to that many conversations if you ever worked a switchboard you8 would know that. That said telephone employees could go down in the basement and open lines to listen in on and often did. I might add back then people tended to mind their own business much more and considered it extremely rude to overhear other's conversations.

The next time one is pulled over for no reason whatsoever and you're not on your tracking cell device, but having a conversation with persons in the car, and ask "why was I pulled over? What did I do?!" And you're told, "someone called" when you're the only car, you now know it them using stingray listening through that phone and picking up on key words as suspect you're guilty of what's being discussed.

Had it happen on a Wednesday night simply discussing party plans for the night, and the upcoming weekend. It's fucked up!

This, with triangulation it was 10... 15 years ago. Now they can know with an accuracy of 5... 10 m where you are. At least if you are in a dense urban environment you are connected to something called small cells (most of the modern mobiles are 4G or 3G, so most of the time you are in 4G or 3G)

For rural, when supposedly you are in 2G in GSM and GPRS/EDGE services, there is something called Timed Advance in 2G and based only on that and the cell you are on and the reported neighbor cells, every cell is reporting, they can easily pinpoint you with accuracy of 550 m (in rural is good enough), etc

All those systems were engineered with location in mind...

From Apri 2014. Less than 50%--

“I don’t like not knowing what it’s capable of,” said county Commissioner Jim Runestad, R-White Lake Township, who has met in recent weeks with sheriff’s officials about his concerns.

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is one of about two dozen forces nationwide – and the only one in Michigan – with the $170,000 machine.(total b.s.!)

"So little is known about Hailstorm that even national experts will only speculate about its capabilities. The technology from Florida-based defense contractor Harris Corp. is believed to be an upgrade of Stingray, a suitcase-sized contraption that is installed in cars and used to trick nearby phones into connecting with it and providing data to police.

The technology can track fugitives and find missing children, but privacy advocates said they worry because similar machines can collect data from innocent smartphone users.

“It’s all very secretive and information about (Stingray and Hailstorm) is tightly controlled, which makes it (difficult) to have a broad discussion about these tools,” said Alan Butler, a lawyer for the Electronic Privacy Information Center, a Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group.

Harris sells the device to police agencies and requires them to sign nondisclosure statements. Oakland County, like other agencies, obtained Hailstorm using money from a U.S. Homeland Security grant."

Sheriff completely contradicts himself in the article.

How it works [link to www.usatoday.com]

FBI got sued over it [link to epic.org (secure)]

"Stingrays are designed to locate a mobile phone even when it’s not being used to make a call. The Federal Bureau of Investigation considers the devices to be so critical that it has a policy of deleting the data gathered in their use, mainly to keep suspects in the dark about their capabilities, an FBI official told The Wall Street Journal in response to inquiries." Buffalo, NY- 2 On Your Side has been reporting on increased cell phone snooping across the country. And, we are now learning some local law enforcement are getting your information. Even when you have done nothing wrong. [link to www.wgrz.com]

So, "smart phone" really is a term to keep the gestapo smart about us for highway robbery and jailing people. But, give us some "feel good" features to keep us happy, distracted, selfie important, and money sucker. Nice.

Also good for keeping their system rolling, 100's of millions dollars pouring in to fund them for life, and peoples name blackened with a record to keep using it against them.

Sickening bastard commies.

lets throw it another way.

Lets say you tell your husband to hurry while on the phone. He then is speeding at the request of his sweet wife that he loves so much and BOOM he hits a pedestrian and kills him/her.

YOU are now liable for that persons death and the phone recordings along with the gps recorded speed your husband was traveling is EVIDENCE in the crime you both committed and will be found responsible for MNASLAUGHTER!!!!

I have always been careful of what I say in the phone. Cell phones and texts are no exception. If they need proof I sit home all day they are welcome to it. I am either home at Walmart or some store here in my town.i don't go anywhere nor do I have a life. I am a lump on a log. If they want to stare at this lump have at it. Won't do any good.
