What's happening now in Ferguson is counterproductive and harmful, mostly to the people involved. But be sure, many children of the rioters are learning by example, and the conclusion they draw will be to NOT do what the adults are doing.

If a parent is drunk all the time, the children will eventually figure out that the parent's behavior harms the children. The same is true for rioting... it is about as destructive to community economic health as anything one can imagine.

What's needed right now is for successful black people to move into the emotional and moral dead space occupied by the Jacksons and Sharptons, and provide more visible personal examples to young people of how to succeed in the real economy.
