I watched CNN international this morning for two hours and their programming is totally different than what they show in the USA version.
Even the commentary by the SAME journalists in the field is noticeably different when they answer questions than it would be if they were answering for a USA audience.
why are USA viewers treated like this?

To keep you dumb and easy to manipulate. The US media plays on its citizens natural tendency to be patriotic and feeds them a slanted version of the news in order to fulfil "the hidden agenda"
Rupert Murdoch and Fox are classic examples of this.
They have to present the news to the rest of the world "as is" otherwise the international community will see it for the bullshit that it is.

TYRE, Lebanon (CNN) -- Eight days ago, the Lebanese Army buried 87 bodies in a mass grave in the city of Tyre. Today, they are laying another 34 in the ground.
Everyone is covering their face to keep out the stench as Lebanese soldiers remove dozens of bodies from the back of a truck. The first body is a day-old baby -- killed in an Israeli airstrike, according to the Lebanese Army. On her coffin a marking shows she had no name. (Watch as Tyre buries its dead -- 2:13)
They've lined up the coffins on the sidewalk; each has either a name or a marking that says "unknown." (Watch as Cal Perry describes the reality of covering the conflict -- 2:58)
All have numbers. Coffin No. 104 has three names on it - Ali, Mohammed and Talib - all children. Nearby, Fatawi Horani is screaming and crying. Her granddaughter Marim, 15, was killed, she says, while trying to flee the fighting.
Three soldiers begin to struggle with a large body bag. Maggots are pouring from the bag - blood is seeping onto the ground. When they get the body into the coffin, the lid arches as doctors hammer nails into it.
Children are beginning to gather. It is images such as these that pass down a hatred of Israel to another generation.
A little girl, Maana, is standing nearby, a bandage on her left arm. Her father tells me she was wounded by Israeli jets - but all the passengers in the car in front of them were killed.
Without having to count, it's clear that more members of the international press are here than bodies being buried. Journalists were asked to come here to witness the collected horror.
A Shiite sheik arrives and begins talking to members of the media. I pull him aside and ask him one question: "What message would you send to the people of America?" "Israel?" he asks. "No," I reply. "America."
"I love the people of America. It's the government I hate. Tell the American people that we received their gift. The missile that they gave to Israel - we have received it, and this is the result," he says, motioning to the coffins.
I thank him, but he says nothing to me - just glares, turns abruptly and walks away.
The mayor says that the bodies will be buried here temporarily. When the fighting stops, relatives will be able to come claim their dead and bury them in their hometowns. |

oh I know all media is controlled and is propaganda. But I was amazed that the correspondents in the field say more on the int'l version than the USA version. How do they keep track of how to respond?

I dont know what the USA version is like, but the international one is more careful as many people watch it all over the world.

I watched CNN International yesterday (from Asia) while Anderson Cooper walked around a totally flattened village in south Lebanon saying "this is not necessarily an accurate portrayal because we have Hezbolah guides).
Right after that, there was a story about all the poor people in northern Israel living in basements. And all the buildings were still standing, they had food and they had water.
Right, so it's not really that bad. Hezbolah did it all with optical illusions to generate sympathy for their cause?

Very well put those options can give you all the information you need to make heads and tails out of everything that is going on. You have to be astute and analyze everything that is said and done, especially on FNC. And then you can realize why they report the way they do. Right in your face once you figure it out.

Where I live each day one of our free-to-air TV channels broadcasts news coverage from just about every major nation on planet earth - 4 from Europe, one from the Middle East, 2 from Asia and one from America (The Newshour with Jim Lehrer). There was an extremely interesting and surprisingly honest discussion in the 27 July edition of the Newshour concerning media censorship/manipulation of news as it applies in the US. I was flabbergasted to say the least to learn that in "the land of the free" you are being kept so much in the dark concerning world events. It shouldn't be too surprising therefore, that many posters here present such a distorted and pro-Israel bias in their views/opinions.
Thank goodness for the Internet (and sites such as GLP) -it really is the only thing that people in the US who really want to be kept informed, can rely upon. |

When we lived in Europe for a few years we noticed this all the time. When anything major was unfolding around the world, the European viewers got far more factual material than the US audience did.
It wasn't uncommon for me to be on the phone when it was 9PM in Amsterdam and Noon in Los Angeles with either friends of business associates. We'd both have CNN on and while the coverage was usually the same the content was often TOTALLY different. The American viewers are fed a watered down, and near lobotomized version of everything! It's disgusting. I have often complained about it to friends at CNN in NYC.
Their response? There are standing orders regarding certain types of issues that are not to be broadcast at all in the US market. Other items are dumbed down and sanitized for the US viewers.
We are kept in the dark by orders of our own government and their estimation of what we can "handle" and what we cannot. One huge issue is that the caskets being brought home from Iraq are NEVER to be shown on CNN. Bushco's want us to think all is well and few are loosing their lives. NOT TRUE, of course. They figure that if we don't see it, we won't realize it's happening.
Apparently the Bushco neocons think the rest of America is as dumb as Crawford Texas seems to be! Hardly the case but they 'manage' our media and news feeds based on those criteria. It's so sad to see our Freedom of the Press trashed by these evil and vicious persons.
Life really is a banquet - and truly - most poor sucker are starving! Enjoy the ride baby. |

Obviously the biggest joke among news channels is FOX, I realy have a difficult time trying to understand how people dont see through all their BS, same thing with talk radio so many people getting brainwashed and they are the ones who think they are in the know. If it wasnt so sad I would laugh.
