What is unique about Teilhard's understanding of this movement towards spirit is that it does not require a dissolution of personality. According to Teilhard, as we move closer to spirit, we approach a place of "harmonized complexity" or what he also called the "hyperpersonal". As Teilhard wrote, "What is the work of works for man if not to establish, in and by each one of us, an absolutely original centre in which the universe reflects itself in a unique and inimitable way? And those centres are our very selves and personalities. The very centre of our consciousness, deeper than all its radii; that is the essence which Omega, if it is truly Omega, must reclaim."

If spirit contains all consciousness, then it is vital that each person remain aware of his or her uniqueness even while incorporating ever more spiritual understanding and insight. As Teilhard explained, each persons consciousness actually becomes more acutely aware of itself and thus more clearly distinct the closer it gets to Omega or spirit. But he cautioned us not to confuse what he called "individuality" with "personality". To cultivate one's individuality is to encourage one's seperateness [...] To cultivate one's personality, on the other hand, is to develop that which is most deeply personal, the essence of one's being.

So I just let this mosquito drink my blood and it got so fat that it couldn't fly. I had to help it into the bushes so it wouldn't be stepped on.

I kill mosquitoes without mercy.

Mosquitoes are people too.

No. They're not. And they mostly kill children.

They're not conscious of the fact that they are killing children. They evolved to do what they do. And they provide food for a lot of other animals which in turn provide food for us as well as balancing the ecosystem.

I agree it sucks that people get diseases from mosquitoes. But that doesn't mean they "deserve" to die.

I know how ecosystems work.

Neither is the flu and cold virus. Doesn't stop it though. Consciousness of harm is not an aspect here. Eradication is.

I wonder is mosquitoes contributed to some of the vampire myths.

I'm totally getting malaria for doing that and then making this argument.

I heard a statistic that surprised me the other day. That most vegetarians last about 3 months.

For myself personally it has been over 3 years and I still have little desire to eat meat.

A few times I've craved it. Especially, when around BBQ ribs. Happened recently, and I admit I fought with the craving. Smelled good.

So mosquitos and wanting to brush my teeth and shower totally hit on an interesting debate about doing no harm....with me.

If a mosquito bites me, i do my best to send it to another world...in peace, though with a gnarly smack. I do not search them out, nor try to destroy their population...in fact i have experimented with many natural and nourishing for the skin lotions and oils.

A buddhist friend commented on how my choosing to be a vegetarian other non harm beliefs i hold is all out the window every time i brush my teeth..and take a shower.

So - also - on trying to design and beautify a yard, in being sustainable for the climate, i brought the apocalypse to an enormous country of ants.... humbled me. Made me wonder about the choices of who lives and who dies, and for what?

Seems one Be-ing deciding, or not even being aware of another Being can be devastating...

They are carriers and we see just the diseases they carry because they affect us but I wonder if there is more to it. They are very ancient with lines back to the Cretaceous period. They are highly important to aquatic life and without them would probably be detrimental to ecosystem.

Oh, the flood.

I hear you. They are a menace. Regardless of their perceived benefit. Life finds a way.

Being the total eradication of mosquitoes is unlikely.


What do you think of the mosquito/vampire tie? Being they sicken and kill so many every year and have for so long?

I was just re-watching the vid you posted by Kid Cudi.

Just like ticks, they live in the transitional ecotone. They are a boundary insect between two environments.

Vampire, I think, is just another word for shaman because they live mostly in the ecotone. I think the vampires with the negative connotation probably live with the belief of mechanical workings of the environment and that is why they sicken and kill because they don't understand what tesla told and healthy shamans told about tensegrity organic environment.
