First off, this was NOT done by American military service members but rather by the CIA. These were not "soldiers" for whom the Geneva Conventions applied. Unfortunate, isolated incidents happen (ie Abu Ghraib), and are punished, per Geneva Conventions, within the military system. These are the men and women who are the ones personally facing the greatest risk of torture and mistreatment as POWs themselves.

Secondly, it CANNOT be determined whether or not these methods contributed to actionable intelligence. There is absolutely no way to make that determination. Actionable intelligence WAS gathered from at least some of these detainees.

Third, had said detainee died of self starvation would you not be blaming Americans for that death?

How exactly do you classify this as rape?. Is it also rape when you are given an enema for a medical test or treatment?
