As to "heaven" the spiritual teachers I have studied suggest that "integrity" is the differentiating point that determines whether or not one experiences heaven or hell. Just like 32 deg F. is the differentiating point between water and ice. Those whose level of consciousness is integrous (beyond lying, cheating, stealing, and now responsible) will experience various levels of heaven based on the level they have reached. Those whose level of consciousness is non-integrous (liars, cheaters, violent, and not responsible) will suffer levels of hell related to how far they have sunk. I agree. I think in many cases people judge themselves subconsciously based on their actions. There have been times when I stole things like liquor from my family, and felt like my own mind was punishing me later. Whether we realize it or not, knowingly doing evil causes us to hate ourselves (I have heard that that's essentially what the soul does - guides us). I think intent is very important too, just as much as the action. I agree with you as well. The spiritual teachers I have studied likened "intent" to the setting of a spiritual compass. If your sailing across the ocean with your compass set it does not matter how many zigs or zags you make, because even when your not heading straight at your goal your still making progress towards it. I want to believe this but isn't your inner voice guided since a child? At what point does painstakingly slicing someone's head off give you praise? I'm not sure I am following your question completely, but my gut response is that your "inner voice" is you being what your ARE perfectly. If your level of consciousness is low, chopping someones head off may seem like a good idea. I would hate to have the karma of such a person. |
