Know Thy Enemy: The Beast Has a Name.
There are many forces at work in this world which one might term "demons", of that much we can be sure. Ghastly and innumerable, their presence can be felt and is made manifest in all places. No one, from greatest to least, is spared from the wreckage and ruin which these forces leave in their wake. Individual lives, as well as families, communities and whole nations succumb to these powers and principalities, these rulers of darkness in high places.

Many speak of Spiritual Warfare, be they religious or not, and countless Warriors of Light strive diligently to expose corruption and to cast these spirits out wherever they may have taken up their nefarious abodes. Yet too often we speak only in vague terms of one Prince of Darkness who rules over many legions of demons, which we imagine in symbolic terms to represent lust, greed, anger, jealousy and a slew of psychological illness and neuroses. One may put a name to this Prince of the Powers of Air, to the God of this world, but even this is mere imagery that is but a pale flame to the true nature of Evil that runs the gamut in this age.

Yes, there sits atop this globe, our sparkling and luminescent sphere inside which we dwell, the most foul and hideous of creatures. He perches atop this world, as if it were His throne, His talons digging deep as He sits upon His roost. The Beast which has seven heads, each spewing seventy lies. The seven faces of the Beast are the seven deadly sins and the seventy lies are all the myriad of variations thereof. Every evil known to man comes forth from this Beast. There is no wicked deed, no corruption, no blasphemy, no heresy and no perversion that does not originate within the heart and mind of the Beast.

This Beast, my friends, my Brothers and Sisters, has a name. This Beast, from which springs every evil, is named Materialism. It has been known by many names in days of old. But for those with eyes to see and ears to hear, it becomes evident that Materialism is the Great Devil of this age for it is from this Beast that greed, lust, sloth, envy, wrath, pride and gluttony of every kind arise. Its monstrous wings cast a shadow upon this world, covering it in darkness and deception. It whispers into our hearts at all times, it screams at us from the street corners, it seduces us from the television and the silver screen. It knows our innermost desires, fantasies and cravings. It lures us in with the promise of pleasure only to further enslave us into a life of bondage and captivity. It aims at nothing but consumption, of resources, of lives, of souls and of this world.

Who then can slay this foul Beast but He who has a heart pure enough to remove the sword from the stone? Who dares to try?

The Ego is not the Beast, for it serves a purpose just as an Operating System on a computer serves as an interface module.

Duality is not the Beast either. It is merely the Law of this realm. For everything must have its opposite. We are not able to comprehend and embody complete and total harmony with the Universe so as to transcend duality. We can merely intellectually grasp nondualism and sense a sort of euphoria, or oneness. It just simply isn't possible.

No one is bitching here. Just calling a spade a spade.

Materialism, we have allowed ourselves to become slaves to its allure. We want convenience at any cost, even the cost of our FREEDOMS.

City water, city sewage, city lights, city everything. Is there any place in the USA where one can legally have children without running water, electricity ect?

Look around, we have become slaves to convenience or as you said Materialism.

I've thought about this for quite a while. I have a great deal of Native American blood and something deep within my bones screams out at the unnatural way in which we live in this system. We must pay for food, shelter, electricity, medical care, education, everything that is necessary to the survival and betterment of our species! Without the power bestowed upon us by the Almighty Dollar we simply could not survive. We feed this Beast with our very livelihood, our skills, talents and abilities. Gone are the days when one could simply work for the sheer satisfaction of a job well done, for the sake of providing a much needed service or commodity to their society. Now everything we do is for the purpose of accumulating more money so that we can simply funnel it back into this tangled and cruel web we've woven for ourselves. The serpent chasing his tail. All is vanity and vexation of spirit, my friend.
