I don't. It should be up to the parent(s) whether or not their child has access to the internet, not the government. If a parent doesn't want their kid online, it is his/her responsibility to keep them off. Last Edited by KonspiracyKitty on 12/18/2014 04:33 PM |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 66130119 United States 12/18/2014 04:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | There is a lot that can be learned from the internet, yet there is A LOT that kids should not see and/or read until they are older as their young minds have a hard time determining whats real and whats not. Quoting: Wash As a parent I know how hard it is to FULLY monitor the internet use of 11, 12, 13 . . .year olds. Not an easy task. Things like this never happened 20+ years ago: Judge rules girl, 13, accused of stabbing a classmate in a Wisconsin park to please fantasy character 'Slender Man' is competent to stand trial. [link to www.breakingnews.com] Fuak No...Fauk No...Fauk no We don't need any fucking law regulating the internet... all that does is set precedent to go fauking crazy with other laws aimed at the internet... |

However, because it is LAW parents and many kids do take it quite seriously. Much more so than if drinking was legal at any age. The age for drinking being set at 21 has hurt us even more, Doesn't most of Europe have their age at like 16 for beer and have less alcoholics than us? It's 18 in the UK to be able to buy alcohol. You can drink it at home or at a private party with your parents permission at pretty much any age. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 44534076 Maybe the age restriction should be 80 and below. Those that live past away with have the privilege of the internet, in their gold years, after retiring from working in the fields. |

Quoting: Wash Voting age being 18, why would we voters want some 12 year old kid eating up our valuable web time? I see the point in it, and TV would have to be age restricted also, i imagine my self at 12 a lot bullshit would have been avoided if i had not had access back then But all the big media corporations will fight to the death against these suggestions because there is billions to be made via commercials, the young ones are a big factor of the consumer target groups they advertise to :) |

Quoting: UnseenRebels Kids have to use the Internet for school in this day and age. I guess we could let our schools monitor their use. SHUDDER! The same schools that push pedophilia and sex with peanut butter as lube. Yeah. NO |

Your 13 year old may be intellectually little more than an infant while mine needs to study for her AP Genetics class. Segregation based upon age is arbitrary and ridiculous. We don't mature based upon our chronological age, and restrictions based upon age only serve to hurt the people who are intelligent beyond their years. Not to mention that those who want to access the internet will always do so. Seems to be too much effort for no gain. |

You have .kid networks? Oh no, because half of your are chronic bachelors and have nothing to do but look at women that look like your mommies. And the other half of glp is gay. Okay, then I fell that even suggesting age restrictions counts for, I need to see your badge sir, you're pulling government behavioral research polls on me and calling it work. Get out of here. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1057865 Canada 12/18/2014 06:50 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm okay with age restrictions for some websites, but not for intenet use in general. There are lots of kid-friendly websites, but there are also websites with "adult" content that children shouldn't see. Neither should adults, for that matter, see some of the really bad ones! If movies can be classified, why not websites? How one would enforce these rules is a whole different matter, though. Ultimately it would have to come down to the parents. |
