Ego is definitely an illusion
"who the hell is this"-"what the fack is this" these r usually my expressions, when i look in the mirror. I can't seem to locate a "me" in there man, i swear.

I'm 100% positive that I'm not this body. So why am i in it? What is me? I think about it and really, nothing is me!!? I'm nothing. Then why there is this sense of "I" when I can't find myself in anything or anywhere ? Where does it come from? Seriously.

Congratulations, you are waking up. The you is your consciousness. You're right you are not the body or your mind or your ego.

If you're interested in continuing to find out who you truly are consider reading any original works by Lester Levenson.

Thanks for the suggestion, i'm looking into it.

Just one question; this consciousness, is it something substantial or dependent on 5 sense perception & memory ? What does it do without objects? Why am i not aware of it when i'm asleep? What exactly is it?

Thanks in adv.

I am just going thru this myself right now, so I am no expert, but i will try to answer your questions.

The way i understand it is, your consciousness is split. Part of it is here focused in the physical, basically residing in your body. The rest of it is in non-physical with God, All that Is, the Universe (however you describe the original Creator).

So is it substantial? Right now 'you' (as you currently know yourself) are dependent upon your 5 senses and you're using your brain for your intelligence.

The more time you spend 'being' this consciousness (the real you), the more you will connect with the rest of it (call it your higher-self). Omniscience and omnipotence here in the physical would be the result of complete merging with your higher-self (think Jesus, Buddha as ones that have actually done that).

My experience is that as you further awaken you begin to understand that we are all ONE (you are me, I am you), that everything you experience in life is you making it up as you go. This physical world is just an illusion and when you more fully identify with your real self you will be able to manipulate it as you choose.

What does it do without objects? Sorry not sure what you mean by this.

Not aware of it while sleeping? The only info I've ever heard about this is that during sleep it merges back with the rest of itself. It becomes whole for the duration of your sleep. So its not here, its back in non-physical therefore you're not aware of it while sleeping. This is my best interpretation. You may need to research this one yourself.

What exactly is it? Conscious energy, enlightenment, all knowledge, all power, present everywhere, Oneness. Yet, due to being 'asleep' humans have not been aware of it, but now we are all awakening. We believe we are limited beings when in fact what we really are is infinite and limitless.
Watch the movie Limitless. it'll give you an idea of what we are truly capable of, but of course you don't need the pill.

Note: The reason i mentioned Lester Levenson is because his writings make sense to me. He was a real modern day person that went thru a process, documented it, and never charged his students for his classes. He just wanted to share his experiences and knowledge.

Everybody has to walk their own path. The information you use should resonate with you regardless of who authored it.

All these questions are addressed one by one in fine detail within the Buddhadharma:

Consciousness, perception, the aggregates, the location of the "I", the five sense objects, the five sense organs, the five sense consciousnesses, emptiness, awareness, the nature of the body, the stages of sleep and dream, how the mind-continuum appropriates bodies/transmigrates, etc.

otoh when others look in the mirror they say 'yeah, i'm so cool' :)

in your case i would focus on the inner identification, the 'i ' that you find in the inner silence

Ego-dissolution is freaky, but a necessary part of waking up. I've been going through this for a while.

If you think about it too much, it can make you feel insane.

I have recently read a book which I found quiet amazing and which could answer your question if you truly think about what is written there.

[link to www.amazon.com]

The first part is free and there are 10 books together. It touches so many subjects concerning us, humanity, society, universe.... Lots of things make sense and others are difficult to comprehend.

Love is the only eternal, everything is is non-eternal. Love is avoiding anything that would separate us from forgiveness.

You are not your thoughts. You are that space between your thoughts. Thoughts separate us from who we are.
