Sandy Hook : Did the janitor enter through the front door?

Wow what a run down pathetic dump.

That door was either always open or just had that stuff put on it because there are no signs that the paper or the other items have ever been disturbed....and the way they are applied they would have been it the door had ever been closed.

Nah it would be too noisy with both classes going at once.

Nice catch on the door Zeph. You just gave us proof that school was either an absolute run down disgusting pit that was never kept up or it was a closed run down building.

Focusing on that room and door was actually a great idea. No self respecting parent would come from all corners of the country and put their kid in that dump.

And if you seriously want to entertain that door being kicked in or part of where the action took place you better explain how that old nasty paper has no marks in it or bullet marks.

Dude. It's a door. It's made to open and close lol. This wasn't a 300lb rock across the holy tomb. It has hinges.

For that matter, the plasticky stuff could be construed as having been stressed down and to the right.

It's the "in" of the "kicked in" that is the operative word for me, though. I don't care if he shoved it or kicked it or head-butted it. Just wanted to know which way someone could "burst in" (as one source put it) to the room through a door.

I noticed from the evidence photo, that aside from the obviously old, run down decorated door, the flimsy and laughable Teacher's Name Plate outside, her classroom shelves are already empty with stacked boxes behind the door.

IF that was a running school, then it should be held up as the WORST school in United States history!!!

Btw why did Roig have no teaching assistants? Everyone else's door has two names on it, doesn't it?

No doubt. You look at the upper scale houses in that town and how nice the other schools are and tell me again why you would allow your kid in that school. It looks like it must smell really musty.

I wonder if the kids interviewed that heard someone kicking a door were at the Rose of St Lima drill and bussed over to Sandy Hook

School's a bit grungy.

But as far as the "parents wouldn't send their kids there!" it ain't private school; your kids go to whatever school's in your district.

Kind of interesting that there isn't a private K-4 in Newtown, actually (or if there is, I'm unaware of it).

Some of the mess is due to officers shoving everything out of the way to take pictures and collect evidence.

Nonetheless, I found myself shaking my head as recently as this evening at the condition of some of those Amityville-horror metal cabinets. I don't know if everything just looks more garish in the flash--I think this is possible.

Google "elementary school classroom," and you'll see plenty that are just as cluttered. I haven't found any that look quite as grungy, with the exception of one that had experienced recent flooding; at the same time, I haven't found any pictures where the teachers weren't ready ahead of time for the photographer, either, lol. Those gleaming fresh coats of floor wax...

Also, be sure to read up on the Newtown School District public budget debates for the last 10 years or so; you'll start to get an understanding as to how hard it was to shake money loose for any improvements.

These rooms were not cluttered. They were disgusting. Maybe the use of this word rang hollow to you. But DISGUSTING means NASTY, UNKEPT, FILTHY, UNSANITARY,GROSS, MOLD, MILDEW. Am I clear? lol

I never entertained much on the school being closed for years and years.....but you know what, it sure is beginning to look closer to the truth than I had imagined.

Someone brought up how the school didn't have the proper handicap procedures to the building and parking lot as well.

You can't use "unkempt" in any genuine sense; officers shoved everything out of the way and piled it up on countertops yada yada. Compare the overall clutter factor to other schools--completely unremarkable (though this will come as surprise to some). Elems have junk stacked all over the place. So do daycares.

I'm surprised by the nasty moldy walls, to be sure. The metal cabinets--again--wow.

Also the nameplate thing--really shoddy looking. Don't know why they couldn't at least laminate the names and cut them out properly, unless they had the kids help or something.

Yesterday and every single week. My church meets in the school gym.

Don't just don't. Do not at all pretend that I am equating the DISGUSTING condition of the school with what police may or may have not done during the event.

This school is so filthy I would be appalled at all the black mold in every photo. Outside...my goodness...if they mowed the grass it seems they would be lucky.

There are plenty of pictures from inside SHS over the years showing it less unkempt, and it's obviously some of the "stacking" of stuff was done by officers to get it out of the way.

Shoddy might be a good word. Considering these teachers had been there a few years I would think they would have something a little more established rather than a quick typed up piece of paper....but it was known for being one of the BEST schools to send your kid to.

I imagine the last time that paper on the door was touched would be "March" of some bygone year.

That's a very good point--to comb through the photos for dates and other identifiers. I cked out the magazines in the lobby (a few of the parent/child type pubs) and they were for December 2012. Took a while.

I agree, which is why I'm trying to sort the issues from the non-issues.

Well I am sure you are surfing for " messy classroom" pics to try and justify the nasty rundown pathetic disgusting condition of the Sandy Hook school but it's really pointless. Messy room from activities does not mean purposely rundown neglect. So give it up.

Maybe post a pic of a current operating school with a ton of black mold present. Then you could maybe change my mind.
