Alpine Slopes 'Worst In 25 Years' -- No Snow = No Fresh Water for Summer.

I live in North Idaho and our local ski mountain is hurting bad! I feel for our town economy!

I drove through Northern California last week, and there is no snow (except high up on Mt. Shasta).

At this time of year, there's usually some snow accumulation at the higher elevations (such as going over the Siskyou summit into Oregon), and at the very least patches of scruffy, half-melted snow along the roadsides while driving through the Shasta area. Some years, I've driven through that stretch during, or just after, major snowstorms. But this year? Nothing. They're getting rain, but they need heavy snowpack, both for the ski resorts and to help alleviate the drought conditions, and they simply aren't getting it.
