The only people I've ever seen cops be cordial to are other cops or their relatives.

I'm pretty sure it's actually in their training to not go around waving, saying hello, and shaking hands -- about 100% positive about that.

We have cops in the area where i work, and most of our staff wave at them all the time.
Plus every morning when i'm walking to work, me and a cop cross paths. Always wave at each other, and once in awhile he'll flash the cherries for a second to say good morning.

Even the security guards in the building i work in wave and talk with people, in a decent and friendly manner.


This is the thing. Treat people like you want to be treated and life is much more enjoyable.

I heard of a guy here in TX that did that once, the cop thought the guy was trying to wave to him because there was an emergency --

when the cop found out it was a friendly wave he flew into a rage and beat the poor guy half to death ...

When I was a cop, the people that went out of their way to be nice to me, I thought prolly had outstanding warrants. LOL!

no, maybe I should clarify. If they just waved at me that wasn't enough. I'm talking about the ones that would go out of their way to talk to me. Then I would usually look at my watch and think, how can I get out of here? I got more important things to do.
