40 year Old Mauled to Death by Own Pit Bull on Christmas Day

There have been hundreds of young children killed or badly mauled by this breed, but it is not the dogs fault, it is the fault of owners thinking they are all loving dogs. They are not, obviously, all loving dogs. Some are pre disposed to snap at certain noises an movements, and no one can predict those trigger points. Sad for all.

My amstaff is worse than a cat, comes from a full blood lineage of dog show winners and has been nothing but a lazy spoiled fucker who doesnt know what a chain is and likes to cuddle more than he does barking, on the other hand my brothers german shepherd whose been on the chain since birth will probably devour you if you come close to him and he doesnt recognize you, same goes for that annnoying fucking yorkshire terrier that barks at anything that moves

The owner was probably just trying to play with him by pretending to snatch the bone he gave him for christmas.

Pit Bulls are beautiful creatures and have big hearts.

However if something snaps they wont stop or let go. That needs to be bred out of the breed and the way to do it is through responsible ownership and lots of love.

The dogs were both 8 years old. I don't know much about dog behavior. Do you think older ones are more aggressive? I'm assuming that size dog is an "older" dog.

How about get a cat. or a dog that isnt well known to attack and kill people indiscriminately.

My mom always complains about the grip that pit bulls have when they bite and don't let go. Trained right pit bulls can make great pets but they are still animals and can sometime snap or play overkill. I hurt for that man.


I have two cane corso brothers which are like giant pit bulls (125 and 150 plus).These dogs could rip a pit bull in half as their strength and bite are much more powerful. I'm not stupid I do have a tazer and bear spray in the house. They know I'm alpha and will roll on their backs for me. lots of training and lots of love.

Like old ladies and men. Don't cross them because they will rip you to shreds with their tongue.

What most owners refuse to realize is a pit bull can change his mind in a split second and decide he wants to slit your throat five seconds after giving you a loving lick.
Yes any animal can do this but rarely is it as deadly.Its in their breed to be like this.

Try having one. ANY dog can and will attacks under the right circumstances. Look at the woman who had her throat ripped out by her yorkie while she slept.

I've heard the "It's not the breed speech" many, many times and I've come to this conclusion..

1. Maybe it really is not the breed and most dogs who are not trained and cared for properly might bite you, but...
2. You can defend yourself against 99% of dogs and their bite are not going to kill you... except for dogs like the Pit Bull
3. Ownership of dangerous dogs like the pits should highly restricted because,
4. They are not like guns that sit quietly when not being used, even if not treated with care. Dogs do have minds of their own.

Pit bulls kill people because of their jaw grip. Just because there are responsible people who are able to deal with current day pits doesn't mean a lot of other people aren't going to be killed due to the bad owners. Is it fair to the people who do become innocent victims of these pitbulls and their rotten owners?

I have a pit mix ... I've taken toys, bones & treats out of her mouth since the time she was a puppy. Because of this, she knows her role... My toddler could take a bone from her and my dog wouldn't dare flinch.
