From the USA it will be in the South below Orion.......highest in the sky around 11pm. The higher your latitude is, the lower the comet will be. Here in N.C. its about 20 degrees high due South at 11pm.

Thank you, but I have no clue where Orion is, or how to recognize it. Is it the Pleiades?

Don't feel bad. I have no clue either, am trying to figure it out. The skies here are crystal clear right now too.

orion is easy to recognise and takes up quite a lot of space in the night sky .(look for orion's belt)

Isn't there a prophecy involving a comet being seen by the naked eye?

I'm not sure I am going to be able to see it.

While it is nice and clear, the moon is quite bright.

Just saw it barely with the naked eye. The Moon is so bright now that it's a little hard to see but it is possible. I'll be waiting to take pics, prob till after the Moon wanes some.

Thanks John 5 stars , the best conditions for me will be after the 8th when the comet is nice and high in the sky and the moon is not washing out the view. Then I just need a cure for the British weather :)

Just to add a little to the discussion about averted vision, I found this "I got the best results from using averted vision, look slightly to one side of the comet, I found this made a bright centre appear out of the coma." When viewing comet C/2013 R1 ( Lovejoy ) around a year ago with 10x50 binoculars.

Try it with a 200mm DSLR attached to a piggy-back adapter on your scope.
