He and Brad were very close, Brad has said that they are like father and son. Although Little Jimmy was only 4'11" tall, and the shortest star at the Opry, his peers refer to him as "Tater, The Littlest, But Biggest Star At The Opry". He will be missed by so many. . |

T For Texas, T For Tennessee! The virtue of courage is a prerequisite for the practice of all other virtues, because otherwise one is virtuous only when virtue has no cost. There are times when something needs to be done, and yet we know that if we step up and do this needful thing, we will pay a heavy personal price. -C.S. Lewis |

It really rocks. I used to listen to him on the radio on the Grand Ole Opry not too many years ago. He also had a great song about sleepin at the foot of the bed. Went to the Grand Ole Opry twice, back in the 90s. Thanks Jimmy. |

Except for taking time off in 2013 to recover from having radiation on his vocal chords, he worked right up to just one week before his death. On Dec 20th, he took the stage at the Grand Ole Opry, in celebration of his 94th birthday. On Christmas Day he had a stroke and went into the hospital in Nashville. And today he had a cardiac arrest and passed away. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. In tribute, here are his funniest cameo appearances, which he thoroughly enjoyed: [link to tasteofcountry.com] . |

Thanks Jimmy. yes, and something about "take an old cold tater and wait", lol, loved him "It's a friendly friendly world" (Andy Kaufman) Calm seas do not a sailor make, Nor easy horses, a horseman. And Jesus was a sailor when he walked upon the water And he spent a long time watching from his lonely wooden tower and when He could be certain only drowning men could see Him- Leonard Cohen |
