Use propane and own your tank. This way you can shop around at different propane companies for the best price. Most of the time you can haggle for a lower price on a fill up of over 100gals., in late summer when it's at the lowest cost to you. If you only using it for heating water and a range, the size of the tank should be about a 250 gal. There are many used tanks out there that can buy. Restore the tank by painting and changing all the valves to insure there are no leaks. I've worked in the propane industry for over twenty years so I may be somewhat prejudice toward using propane.
