Most attacks on kids are by pitbulls. Those are not regular dogs... Me and my husband were putting garage sales signs the other day. There was a overweight middle age woman walking a pitbull. He was really walking her. Pitbull saw my husband with a sign and a hammer and started growling at him. That woman tried to come the dog down, but he didn't seem to care what she had to say....She finally pulled him by the leash and walked away. He kept looking back. She had no clue what she was doing. We have a whole neighbourhood full of kids here, and I've seen 3 people in the vicinity with pitbulls. I also saw one pitbull running around loose several months ago. I wish they had some kind of a law against that breed. Its all in how they are raised... Course the same goes for humans. |

Quoting: Poetic Terrorist 78042pitbulls are loving animals, its the owners who make them mean and prone to attacking humans. B-S! Those dogs are known to "turn" on a human. There's been way too many cases of pit bull maulings - same goes for Rottweillers. They are bred to kill. End of story. I love dogs, all animals, but this is one breed that should not be kept as a pet and actually should not be bred at all. It's not the dog's fault though that they were bred that way but they are killers. We had an elderly lady here in Virginia recently get mauled and killed by pit bulls running loose. Neighbors constantly complained about them but the owner didn't do anything about it until the unspeakable happened. Now she's serving time. End of story. |

Take the dog away ... Hideous Add dog ... Slightly more palatable than the dog, erego less of a shock Quad etra demonsstrandum |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 110886 United States 08/10/2006 06:51 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | the history of the Pit in this country was long and well established way before these backyard breeders bred them for much of what some of them want from them, dog fighting or protecting illegal substances, dealers, and generally antisocial types who hang with their own exclusively and want this "I'm bad attitude". Pits were a part of families and very popular till the depression. Spanky's dog was a pit,Buster Brown ,his dog Tige and the R.C.A. Victor dog was too. the Queen's sister has a whole kennel of them that follow her about at home. They are loyal, dedicated, funny and tolerant. Socialize them,do not let little kids put their faces in their faces (the most common cause for dog bites from all breeds of dogs)and with any breed of dog introduce them to all instead of looking for them to be kept out of the social contacts you expect in your home. Great dogs, have had three. And the reader is correct for alongtime German Shepherds and St. Bernards accounted for 50% of the dog bites, and Vets do not like working with the shepherds. dobie had a bad rap and never made the top ten list of dogs that bite people. It is the people and not the dogs most typically and I do not live in the ghetto! Quoting: Michele 129339I hope you have good insurance. You'll need it when you get sued because your dog bit or mauled someone. |

Would pulling his balls help? or pockingh is eyes out? Someone I know was attacked by a dog couple months ago when she was riding a bike with her child. She was pushed from the bike, dog bit her face, damaged her knee. |

Michele User ID: 129339 United States 08/10/2006 07:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I have a farm package insurance which is quite good but I will never need it due to him. He accepts new dogs, cats into our home and after two months ago when I had to put my two really big guys down due to ill health (13plus years) we were out in back behind my barn and suddenly he went after something,no bark and no growl and what it was was a cougar. It was less than 20feet from me. It was scary for him, too,as he was besides being depressed over losing his buds, really quite for the next two weeks until we got him a Rat Terrier. You don't like them I do.He is my heart. |

Or maybe your precious puppy that happens to be in its own backyard and the pitbull climbs the 6' fence to ravage it and kill it - savage style - while you watch in horror out your kitchen window. I hate when they do that. Other than that, Pitbulls are pussycats. |

I would suggest that there is a correlation between nasty pit bulls and their owners being stupid ugly red necks or some other Ameritrash. I have met pit bulls that were sweeter than malteses before... |
