Must say....

At first I was against CT forcing her to receive treatment. I assumed she was most likely going to die.

However, she has an 85% chance of living with the treatment.

I do believe they should force her to get it. It is a form of suicide not receiving the treatment. And also, she ran away from home which does not signify she has the maturity of an adult.

Furthermore I do not blame her parents, but feel that they must be battling all sorts of emotions on what to do, right vs. wrong.

Seems that the State of CT is the only thing that will save this young girl's life!

What this implies for future situations.... that will be for the future to determine.

It is obvious that you do not believe in natural cures. There are much better odds at curing the cancer with natural cures then chemotherapy, that not only kills cancer cells, but healthy cells, as well. And if she dies of the chemotherapy? What do you think the medical idiots will say then? Oh, she died of the cancer. Many people die from getting chemo, but you never hear THAT coming from the medical world. Funny how you can't sue Big Pharma for anything anymore. Guess there are just too many people dying from their "treatments".
 Quoting: katballoo

The Truth:

I have personally known four persons who accepted the chemo as treatment for cancer.

ALL four died within two years of taking the chemo.

SAME chemo system for almost 100 years. No New therapies? All those BILLIONS of Dollars, and NO Cures? No Advancements???

Rockefeller's & other sold-out club members fund the AMA and the 'Cancer Society'.

Follow the money right to the core.

NO so called Judge can rule anything in a Commercial Court and they ALL are Commercial. The Judge is only an Administrator and "cannot adjudicate from the bench". So you go ahead and do what you want, he and his Admiralty Court has no lawful power whatsoever, just legal power of the weapon and force and you can sue later.

Fuck you Judge. I dont consent.

what can you do when the state threatens to take your child?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 59804960

If you notice the state/govt picks on people they know they can run over. Back in my childhood days a lot parents would blow your head off if you tried to do such things to their children. My Parents included back in my childhood days, the state/govt knew parents would not put up with much BS like that without someone getting shot by a raging very angry parent!
 Quoting: Robert50 59736467

Take a stand...hold them off with whatever you have at your disposal. I would rather have this outcome than to sit by and watch them take my child and do whatever they feel is best for them...
 Quoting: fly on the wall

Unfortunately, in the end, they would take the child anyways, and the parents would either go to jail, or be dead. I think the only thing to do, is run away like that teenage native Indian guy did. I wish I could remember his name. He was a teenager, and would not undergo treatment. He ran away and naturally cured himself. He is still cancer free, and I believe it has been almost 20 years now.

"Doctors have said the teen has an 80 to 85 percent chance of living..." maybe in 1 year, and 97% die in 2-7 years. If the doctor is so sure the teen has an 80 to 85 percent chance of living then put it in writing for how long? Wake up people!

This is like forcing someone into a gas chamber without their consent. Chemo will destroy you and kill you faster than any cancer can do. Everyone that I know that took chemo died within a year. EVERYONE. None got cured. All died. How's that for a poor track record...Big pharma and western MD's are EVIL, BRIANWASHED MURDERERS/LIARS.

Did the mother refuse ANY treatment method for this girl? Like holistic?

If the mother wants to pursue holistic treatment she is allowed to do that for her daughter. But if the mother is refusing any treatment for the girl, I do think the state should require the girl to receive treatment.

Which is extremely unfortunate, since I have heard how bad chemo therapy is.

Re: Connecticut Supreme Court upholds ruling that teen must undergo chemo
Unfortunately she is now a pawn. If she beats it naturally they would have a strong interest in making sure she didn't live too long and become a poster child for refusing chemo.

The 85% chance of survival rate is usually based on a 5 year timeline. If you live 5 years and a day they will consider you a success story and will claim you were cured by their treatments. Of course no one mentions that with no treatment at all you will likely live 5 years or more.

How many of us know people who went to hell in a hand bag coinciding with the chemo. God only knows if they would have lived better and longer lives without the treatments.

I have an aunt who refused chemo and lived a great healthy long life for another 25 years. When she recently had a new bout of cancer they convinced her that she needed chemo this time. And as predictable as the sunrise she is now very ill and at risk of dying of pnumonia. Shrunk up a tumor but ruined her quality of life and is likely the begining of her end. Perhaps the cancer would have done her in but I dunno the treatment seems worse than the disease sometimes.

As others have stated, I have also read that the false positive diagnosis thing is happening all the time and it helps get the success rate numbers up. How many masectomies were over prescribed by now, who knows. SOme experts believe that many of these success stories about breast cancer are people that would never have died anyway without any treatment.

Who really knows for sure? But in a free world we could actually allow people to choose and then document their results. Then compare best alternative treatments properly administered vs chemo. Instead we get the story of someone who tried such and such and died instead of getting chemo. There are thousands of natural alternative treatments and only one is the best for any one situation. See cancertutor.com if you want the whole story!

I change my opinion. Thinking about how bad chemo therapy can be according to what I've heard, the person is allowed to ride out the illness if they feel their life would be better than with the treatment.

Plenty of research out there folks for you to make your own assessment. No one needs the State or Government forcing them to do what they feel is best. It is for you to decide what is best for your family not the State.
 Quoting: fly on the wall

This encroaching of your freedom started with very small things most of you don't care and even agree, that's letting government enforced seat belt. Even now, I think most of you would agree it is necessary that seat belt should be enforced in the name of "for your own good". But, however miniscule matter you allow your government to control you, it will build from there into much bigger control like this enforcing chemo. If most of you did think about the future possibility of government controlling every aspect of your life, you would fight against seat belt enforcement. Some who understood this and fought for it lost because lack of support from the people. If at that time, you all fought and won against seat belt imposition, you have precedence to apply it to all other government meddling of your life.

The moral of the story is, small thing is important. People should learn to be vigilant toward anything that breaches their principle of freedom to choose.

There are ways to determine if one has cancer. Do home lab tests, see a chinese Dr. or someone who doesn't have to report to the state. Then, if you have
money go outside the country, If not, study everything you can about alternative treatments and get started. The state doesn't have to know your business.

Connecticut Supreme Court Forces Chemotherapy On Teen

A teen girl is now being forced to have chemotherapy against her mother’s wishes thanks to a new ruling by the Connecticut Supreme Court.
The case centers around Cassandra C., 17, of Windsor Locks, who wanted to stop her chemo and allow her cancer to take its course. A lower court in CT ruled that the girl wasn’t competent and she was taken from her mother, made a ward of the state and forced to continue the treatment.

Contemplating youth and the end: Cassandra C. and the ‘mature minor’ debate

The debate here, and the Connecticut Supreme Court’s order, centers in large part on the notion of Cassandra’s age and maturity. It also speaks to a larger issue involving when adolescents and children can make their own medical decisions

Cassandra, The Future Holds Lots Of Promise

Her mother, Jackie Fortin, says Cassandra believes the chemicals used in treatment could do more damage to her body than the cancer — a view the doctors don't share.

To be sure, my weekly chemotherapy treatments were not pleasant, but they were not unbearable either. Yes, it was toxic chemicals that were being streamed into my body, but as I saw it, my body had betrayed me by letting this unnatural cancer state overcome my own immune system.

Connecticut Supreme Court: teen can be taken from mother for forced chemotherapy

After a hearing in the Child Protection Session of Superior Court, at which Cassandra’s doctors testified, the trial court “ordered that she be removed from her home and that she remain in DCF’s care and custody.”

Ms. Fortin said that in a letter to the Superior Court judge, Cassandra wrote that “no one has let her breathe” since the state took over her health care.

The court made Cassandra into a ward of the state and authorized DCF “to make all necessary medical decisions on Cassandra’s behalf.”

Against her will, Cassandra was subsequently hospitalized and not allowed to leave. Her mother says Cassandra “put up a fight” and was physically strapped to a bed, then forced to endure unwanted surgery and chemotherapy.

Why A 17-Year-Old With Curable Cancer Is Fighting For The Right To Refuse Chemo

But Cassandra believes that choice should be made by her alone. On Thursday, the Connecticut Supreme Court ruled that the teen did not prove she was mature enough to make this decision. Cassandra was hospitalized in December and remains there today, with limited access to outside communication and visitors.

The day of the ruling, Cassandra published a personal essay in the Hartford Courant about her experience. In the article, she describes crying and hiding from the police in her closet, running away from home after two days of chemotherapy, and being strapped to a hospital bed to undergo treatment against her will.
