We would not have this problem if our high schools actually taught kids a "skill" which they do not.

In Russia a kid that graduates from High school has the knowledge of a U.S. kid with a college degree. So it can be done and has been proven in Russia.

In the U.S. a kid with a college degree only has that paper to get into the door but a business has to completely educate and re-train them to do the job they want them to do. None of our schools teach anyone a skill that they can take out on the open market and immediately turn into a money maker. The only thing the degree does is tell the employer that this person "can learn" if they have the resources to train them..

We have many retired Baby Boomers who actually have skills but are not allowed to teach because they do not have an education degree. I'm sure many of them would volunteer to teach young people for nothing, just to give them something to do.

My sister was a teacher and had an education degree. She knew how to teach but had no clue what to teach because she never worked in the private sector and competed for a living. All she did was go to school all her life to get that degree.
