Re: Does anyone here do GodLike Poetry??Quote

I haven't chimed in to this thread yet since I wanted to have a chance to sit down and read some of the excellent work here first, which I'm just now getting to. I didn't realize just how big this thread was though at first, so it looks like it may take a while... :)

Anyway, in the meantime I thought I'd post one of my poems I wrote a year or so ago. This one is intended as Spoken Word (which I've managed to perform a couple times), so read it with that in mind that there's actually a bit of "presentation" to go along with it:

----
"Perspective"

The earth is five billion years old
With five billion to go
If those ten billion years were experienced as a man
Who lived to be fifty years old
The whole of human history would pass by
In a half hour of celestial television that you miss
As you watch your own

A sitcom between Ice Ages
Man these characters sure are funny
How about that laugh track
Intermission for a Constitution
Generations of stories lived
Stories told stories lost
While you sit on your couch watching
A commercial digging up the past to advertise the future
When all you ever wanted
Was the present

A flick of the remote
A flick of a dream all for the ratings of natural selection
In an ocean of channels of energy
That anyone can watch
But no one ever does

So off goes the tube now let's go outside
How about a space race
The ape race to the final frontier
You can't see or hear
Ten thousand mosquitos up in orbit
Stinging and biting
Making me scratch the itch on my skin
So I can't scratch the itch in your mind

The age of oil goes by in the time it takes
To wash your face with the soap of human resource wars
See the monkeys dance while you clean your pores
Sounds great
Can I buy that in bulk

Save the planet
Screams of apocalyptic disaster bringing fear
Doom and gloom the end is near
As the earth looks over its shoulder with a tear
And a chuckle Hey Jupiter
Pull my finger

The crock pot recipe of human evolution
Fifteen minutes prep time
Seven hours cook time
Five minutes to eat
Serves One

White Noise

I've never let you see
The darker side of me,
I am not the one you love,
I am not my poetry

A heart resounds with echoes,
A soul chimes in pain,
The chorus sung by shadows
With no rhyme, and no refrain

Even time can never last
When your memory has no past,
When your present has no faith
In the changing of the days

Sometimes life resembles death
And death is no escape
When the clock is stopped in stages
And your life is out of date

I cannot cry, I know that's weakness in someone’s’ eyes.
I'm forced to fake compassion, a tear, and a laugh everyday of my life;
all forgotten things called emotions, like have I known what they were.
My heart is a shielded one and I won't let shields down.
I’ve learned not to trust anyone around me.

I am here far away from home. Even when I die, no one will cry for me;
how lonely it is only to hear cicadas cry.
No one will come to visit my tomb. Then, I am better off buried along the road, since someone might offer flowers.
I don’t care which flowers they offer.
Perhaps I love olive tree blooming in the wild along the road?
No water is necessary, since it will rain.

Well, I deserve nothing more than I get because nothing I have is truly mine.
Even my words are not mine, somebody wrote them before.
Bedraggled and pathetic, likely unneeded things.
And if you live by the rules of "it's over" then I'm sure that it makes sense.

Melting mayhem

Last unbroken thing shoot out
Like a bulb carelessly broken
With a last spark at the end of its life.

Last of knowledge shoot out too
Like a letters washed by the sea
From the bow.

Last faith, last hopes in miracles shoot out
Like I never had them.
Like some polar bear on floating ice
Drifting in warm sea.

Last unbroken thing in me shoot out
Like a worm holed board
Like a bench in forgotten park
In a park with and without end,
In a park which started with a pain
And in pain it ends
In a park which started with cursing
And in cursing he ends.

In tears and darkness. In screams, shouting.
In the cycles, with faded sound of wing clapping
Of angels or pigeons, under the window or in heaven

Faraway from the notion which get away like the last bus
Like a lift which opens a door in basement and lights shows the top
Like a plate falling down for hours and a hand missed it.

Short tearslide

Best songs I wrote in my mind
Never spoken things rolled like a billiard ball
From heart to throat.

Best songs I wrote in twenty forty
Waiting for the one which will never come
Huddled up, alone and tired.

Best songs I wrote about her smile
Best songs I wrote about her curls
Which even today pet my face.

Best songs I wrote in my mind
To be heard only by my dog.

Any given day in twenty forty
I wrote most beautiful song
Then - I give it away to the wind
To lay it down on her bed.

Re: Does anyone here do GodLike Poetry??Quote

Thank you Z, from the bottom of my heart. My poems (and ALL my posts here on GLP) are hardly translatable on English. I’ve tried the best way I can.

We don’t use in everydays' life separate words for a song and a poem, even if my language has five times more words.

We call them both - songs - even if we have the same words as you - poem or poetry - but we use them rarely and more in academic circles.

Words are music, sounds of emotions and a rhythm of thoughts. However, many of these I lost in translations of my poems and other writings, either you loose a meaning of a whole, or a rime or fine, sublime influence on your soul not to mention imagery, diction, and proper alliteration, assonance and consonance.

Revision is not a poet’s “beauty” tool anymore, it gets obligatory role.

In my language grammar list seven cases for nouns and adjectives: nominative, genitive, dative, accusative, vocative, locative, and instrumental.

There are seven tenses for verbs: past, present, future, exact future, aorist, imperfect, and plusquamperfect; and three moods: indicative, imperative, and conditional.

We also have two numbers: singular and plural. However, some consider there to be four numbers. If adjectives are placed in front of the noun they modify and must agree in both case and number with it.

There are three genders for nouns: masculine, feminine, and neuter, a distinction which is still present even in the plural.

The verb also has one of two aspects: perfective or imperfective. Most verbs come in pairs, with the perfective verb being created out of the imperfective by adding a prefix or making a stem change.

This type of aspect is difficult to learn for most foreigners, including native English speakers, because it is both subtle and, at least among Indo-European languages.

Well, I’ve said - people here often misunderstood me. On this thread, I offer my sincere apology for hurting someone’s ears. My above explanation is little inappropriate or schoolish, but I’ve often feel myself like an alien invader on this board. I’ve never learned English, by the way. It’s purely self-learned.

Thank you again, Z, for your kind words.

Well 20-40 you are most welcome,…I find it exciting to be able to share thoughts with someone from Croatia.

Especially poetic word creations. In poetry how can peoples be that far a part.

Your ability to communicate amazes me. I would love to be able to go into foreign forums and interpret for myself.

Sadly,… I only speak the one language. 1doh1

I wrote this one about the state of the world:
----------------------------------------
Deadly fog rolls,
noxious night falls.
Portraits of perdition
hang in labyrinth halls.

Mindless mass drifts,
oblivious to sin.
Peddlers of decay,
pounding to get in.

Up is down, black is white
bad is good, hey, what's on TV tonight?
Spend the evening in another's fantasy
sliding towards destruction,
but they refuse to see

Hole in your soul,
pour in the world,
no amount of stuff will fill it,
material things never could.

When you life is through and harvest come,
rot and decay balanced out in full sum,
Shriveled reward lies dead in smutted husk,
expensive price for your worthless lust.

Signs and wonders in the sky,
don't you ever wonder why?
squares and lines, electric clouds,
don't ask questions, its not allowed!

Simple message to us all,
trust in the Creator, and you won't fall.
Time is short, please, don't delay
Make your choice while it's still TODAY.

Careless Talk

As children, we quested for adventure
Under cool beach pebbles, within stone sanctuaries,
In the patient arms of indulgent trees, pressed between flowers in fields
That hadn't yet been sold off to the blissfully ignorant,
Those who grasped the key of life at birth, and furiously polished it
In the hope of attracting a high bid, regardless of it's simple beauty

We didn't find a mystery, or a legend,
Only rumours of seductive promises
Made after the latest war to end them all,
Careless talk of equality, made manifest in our houses
Of sticks and stones - no home for heroes there...
So here we are, all together, bound to the rock that they rent to us...

Envyness of kestrels

When you fall in love start to cry,
Even not knowing why.
When you cry later, when it’s over, when it’s gone
You can cry for your cries,

This can force some tears from the past
To flow again in their own name, it should last
You can comfort yourself,
Not knowing do you cry for her fears
Or your resurrected tears.

When you fall in love put some black coat on you,
And a pair of boots,
When you run later, when it’s over, when it’s gone
You can run from yourself,
Spread your coat, like a sail,
Fast boat in opposite direction.

Well, love is just a sequel of life
Did somebody ask you to be?

When you fall in love one thing is for sure
Somebody in heaven hates you.
Sarcastic avenue of their jealousness.
Spread your coat, like a wings,
And become one of them.

And flown away from the highlands of Cerres de Balla.

Bright golden gleams

The poem of my soul

Silver beams of starlight
Reach within my dream

Stranger

You can see it in our eyes,
Our life and times,
Traced on our skin
In bas relief lines,

Our faces are maps
Of a journey untold,
A road well-travelled
That's taken it's toll,

But the eyes tell our tale,
Black holes of revelation,
Underlined chapters
Of unresisted temptations,

Sockets where the spark's gone out,
Hollowed from within,
The lights are on but no-one's home
Except the stranger in my skin

((( finished )))

Hey fat girl, put your shoes on.
Now be a little lady; now shake your head!
Hey fat girl, why so flustered?
You're losing your composure; your face is red.
Hey fat girl, don't be angry.
It's an hour past your curfew; now go to bed.
Hey fat girl, It's hard to wake you...
But I got a little anxious; now give me head!
