Local police in Dresden are banning all open-air, public gatherings on Monday, citing death threats targeted at a member of a group organizing a weekly series of anti-Islam protests that have gripped Germany.

The group, known by its German initials as Pegida, or Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the West, has staged weekly rallies in the eastern city of Dresden, with crowds reaching as many as 25,000-strong this week. The group called off its rally scheduled for Monday following the security threat
