Its not rigged, but its possible that there are elements that have been "gotten" too.

It would be next to impossible to get the players involved in fixing without talking later.

Not all the players have to be in on it, just the good ones. I have never seen that last quarter played so bad.

The Seahawks had two time outs left, and knowing Greenbay was about to score within the last 30 seconds or so, never called a TIMEOUT. This was the Red Flag for me.

Seattle may have won but they didn't cover the line of -7. So they didn't rig it for people betting. Most allegations of fixing games are centered on gambling. A lot of people lost a shit load of money.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 63655070

^^^This^^^. If it affected the point spread to shift money especially on a referee call then yes. This did not fit the mold. Green Bay played not to lose and choked.

Having dabbled in the lower levels of pro wrestling it is hard enough to execute something according to plan when it is totally scripted. It would take an official or a QB to even try and with replay and coach challenges it is even tougher.

Boy, after that seattle "comeback" i dont know how anyone can still believe its not fixed. Green bay obviously took a dive! They got their point across first, that they could take the seachickens with one hand tied behind their backs and then in the last 3 or 4 minutes gave seattle the walk off win. Can you say OWNED and put on notice?! I mean when clinton-dix stood there allowing that 2 pointer, hello!
Sooooo soooooo obvious!

What about the Patriots vs Colts. Pats have been in the Conference championship 4 years in a row, is that rigged? Remember, Seattle won the Super Bowl, so they do have talent.

First of all, I call bullshit. The promoter walks over and tells you both who's going to win. Maybe he lets you work out how yourselves, maybe he tells you how and you work it into the act, either way, it's not that hard.

All those people are paid employees of the NFL. If your boss decided tomorrow that after lunch you were going to play the girls from the office in a flag football game and he told you to lose to them, you'd fucking lose, just like you're told, and earn your paycheck and go home. Or you can go find another job. Good luck finding another job where you get to play flag football with the office girls.

Watch the 4th quarter for the colts to make an incredible comeback? That would be interesting?? Isn't Manning retiring? He needs his Superbowl Trophy before he leaves.

I agree with most of that. However to say it is not illegal or unethical is a ridiculous. To announce before taking peoples money under false pretenses that the outcome is predetermined would make it legal or ethical, otherwise it is just another example of God-less corruption.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 66806718

What would you charge a ref or player with for fixing a game, disorderly conduct? The ticket doesn't guarantee you a fair game.

You haven't seen a guy seriously injured while working an attack angle that was pre-planned. I have from about 2 feet away. Mistakes happen. Wins and losses are booked but things always go wrong. Guys on the lower levels do not have much experience or training.

yeah but your job isn't paying you multi-million dollars ...and despite what you dumb greedy fucks think... some people, don't base their lives on making money. they actually wanna play the game. some don't even want to do that... ask Ricky Williams. He walked away from multi millon dollars because he thought his life should be more than football. there are countless players who have either left or were forced to leave because of injuries... you'd think one of them would mention something.

you gotta be a complete fuck to think this shit is rigged from the top down players and all... i'll give you the possibility that a few refs might be in on something, but the rest ...most of you need a reality check and stop living in your conspiracy theory worlds.

Re: Sad Day for NFL (Fixing the Game)
its real easy for you fruit loops to say everything is rigged, but none of you ever explain how its possible.

you think every player, every coach, every ref and every owner knows and not one has ever got fed up and said something?

do you think its just the refs? because there were really no calls that screwed this game up.

so what is it then?

some former players have even committed suicide blaming the head injuries from their NFL days for it ...some left angry suicide letters about the NFL ...some just hurt their knees and the NFL left them high and dry ...still NONE of them had anything interesting to say about rigging.

so please, since it's so easy for you to confidently signify rigging ...please confidently tell me how ...intelligently.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 56628611

You must have very little working in your head, or you're naive enough to think that gambling does not have an influence when many refs work second jobs, lmao. This is in a sport where callable offenses occur on every single play mind you. Same as basketball. About as legit as WWE, ffs.

Re: Sad Day for NFL (Fixing the Game)
I read other articles/posts about the NFL fixing some of their games, but never wanted to believe it. But after seeing the GB-Seattle game yesterday....wow! The two plays that really stand out as beyond odd, are the GB interception at 5 minutes left, and the Seattle throw it up for grabs touchdown. The interception was crazy when the GB player fell to the ground and stayed there, as opposed to trying to pick up as much yardage as possible. Who does that in a championship game, with that much time left, and wanting to go up as many points as possible. Makes no sense. And the up for grabs touchdown. Basically thrown up so high that anyone in the area could make a play on the ball, and worse, risk a pick that would go the other direction for a defense touchdown. Both GB players don't make any attempt to go for the ball, and easily could have. I've watched it over and over and they both are going half speed....why?! Definitely something very fishy about that game.

And to remind everyone about the court ruling of a Patriots season ticket holder that tried to sue for his money back when the Patriots were caught cheating a few years ago. The judge ruled that the NFL and it's teams, have no obligation to a "fair" game. In other words, if they feel, as a business, that one team would be better winning a game than the other, they can legally do this. He also ruled that once you purchase your ticket, and take your seat in the stands, you are paying to see entertainment and no guarantee that you will be seeing a "fair" game. It is entertainment.
