Anonymous Coward User ID: 54421604 United States 01/21/2015 12:22 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | They're not going to forfeit to Seattle, there's way too much money at stake. Colts don't deserve to go, they got embarrassed, not just in the passing game. Patriots should have to play without any on field coaching staff. Ball boys and medical staff only. I'm not sure what else would work and still be fair. |

Ziconic User ID: 63875496 United States 01/21/2015 12:39 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Would it really be that difficult for a player or ball-boy to stick one of those ball inflating needles in (no pump of course) and drain off some air really quickly? It seems like it would be damn easy. Especially for anyone handling the footballs just prior to the next play. Everyone is watching what's going on on the field, not what the ball-boy is doing. ETA: Not saying that is what happened. It just seems like it would be easy to do. The tires on your car will do the same thing, that's why when it gets cold your tires loose pressure. 2 psi is about what they would loose with a 40 degree drop in temperature. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 66597749 Those headset communications...under FCC rule they cannot be encrypted. What would stop a team from having someone in the parking lot with a scanner, re-transmitting the plays over a phone to a bluetooth??? Nothing, and that's why they use numbers for the plays and various actions and change up the codes every game. |

I would imaging in places like Lambeau field it is extremely difficult to maintain the right pressures. You would have to inflate them on the field and not let them sit in the sun or anything like that. |

Quoting: brassbat Meaningless? In cold weather, underinflating the balls can create a huge competitive advantage for the offense. By rule, a game ball must be between 12.5-13.5 psi. Now, would the Pats have won anyway? Almost certainly. But I guarantee it would have been closer than 45-7 if they'd had regulation balls. Winter is Coming. |

It depends on what kind of team you're playing against. if they are a throwing team with more of an offensive strategy, underinflating the balls would do no good, it might even hurt. The main reason they are supposed to be kept at a specific pressure is kicking, believe it or not. The wind would give one team an advamtage anyway, but coupled with underinflated balls it is substantial. If you're kicking an underinflated ball against the wind, you're going to get a poor result. |
