That study references only gun deaths; not death by bludgeoning, stabbing etc. What's more, the vast majority of these 'gun deaths' are either suicides or are committed by long-time violent offenders using illegally obtained firearms. All citizen self-defense and police shootings are included in this data as well as accidental shootings.

If you were to restrict the data to the US alone you will see that race and demographics in fact are the determining factors rather than overall gun ownership. Gun violence explodes wherever Blacks reside in the US and worldwide for that matter. To a lesser extent the Latino population in the US is also a determining factor. In fact Blacks and Latinos account for appx 85% of all violent crime in the US. Rural areas in the US show much higher gun ownership per capita but virtually little to no gun crime. Urban (Black) areas on the other hand have very little legal gun ownership and are replete with anti-gun laws but are rife with gun crime.

Japan has no gun crime but also sees no knife or bludgeoning deaths due to 99% of the population being Japanese. Has nothing at all to do with gun ownership.

To top it off, despite the prevalence of guns in the US and recent exponential increase in legal gun ownership, homicides have been cut in half over the last two decades or so. See the correlation ?

26 may be a bit heavy? Plenty of light 9's out there. I too have a 26 but also like to carry a Kahr PM-9 / CM-9. I have shot my friends LC-9 and it looks like a good size/weight carry as well. Good luck with the 26 :)

I tend to shoot to soon, but I'll swear it's the first time that happened.

i own many many guns and usually carry a .380 but I just love my glock 26. Im comfortable with it and I have speed sights on it and I am just used to it...I have more shots in my glock then my .380. but it is heavy.
I just hate shooting 380s out on the range because they get jammed in my reloader....ugh...which is set up for 9mm and the other reloader is set up for .223
