There is a lot of precendence for this amongst all Armies for years. Including units specially formed for this purpose. Wouldn't be surprised if it was true.

army officers have done this in the past by sending virtually unarmed conscipts as fodder.

problem in this case is they aren't out of guns and ammo, and the soldiers sent to assualt could just fire back at the 'barrier troops'

Basic reality is that the people our rogue government is supporting in Ukraine are a bunch of Nazis who overthrew an elected government using gangland tactics. The part of the Ukraine still ruled by Kiev are in a fubar state of affairs and the Obunga admin is planning to send US troops to "train" the Kiev brownshirts in the coming Spring. That's doubling down on insanity and the most likely result of it will be a major war with Russia which would be more likely than not to become an atom-bomb war.

Most people need at least two things to feel good about going into harm's way: A believable cause, and a chance to win.

You can sort of tell when soldiers lack a believable cause when you see them being frog-marched into battles with guns at their backs.....
