I do not follow good cop/bad cop stories...

But then, I would not post a positive story about a cop, as a way to say that only 'some' are good.... when in reality, a majority are very decent people.

This is true. MOST try to do the right thing. Not like they sit at a desk all day. Most of them are literally putting their lives on the line every day.

What judge would grant sole custody to the father for a 6 month old infant?

Probably not many because only the mother can provide essential nutrients from her breast milk.

Not only that but baby formula is expensive. Around $30 per jar and they could go thru 2 jars a week.

Do you know how much profits the store would lose if everyone got away with it?

It is actually not that great for the infant's health but I do understand the mothers could occasionally not be around because she's dead or whatever.

But being poor is no excuse to steal because there's plenty of charities that would be more than willing to help out a single father in need.

Was there a single point to this post, or are you just throwing things out there hoping that something sticks?
 Quoting: ScrumpTheTexan

Dude, hop off the officer's cock for a minute would ya?

I hate officers as much as anyone else but if you wanna be a cop then be a fucking cop. You can't just pick and choose which laws to enforce and who to arrest or let go just because it paints you as a so called hero.

How would you feel if that guy broke into your house, robbed you at gunpoint and cleaned you for all you got, just so he could feed his starving baby because he's not competent or motivated enough to get out and earn an honest living. Then some lazy cop refuses to arrest him so he can go out and do it again and again?

That sends a bad message to the rest if the community that if you're in need then its ok to steal from others without consequences. If you're gonna be a cop then treat everyone like a criminal. You can't just pick and choose. If an officer felt sorry for everyone who committed a crime then there'd be a lot of thugs roaming the streets raping, killing, and stealing. I hope the chief of police fires his stupid ass.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 969063

Did any of those things happen?

No.

Eat shit you squealing hyper-hysteric.

norespect
 Quoting: ScrumpTheTexan

You're not seeing the big picture. I don't know why you're even a registered conspiracy theorist if you wanna take a msm story at face value.

The police are obviously changing their tactics. Too many lawsuits and riots over police brutality are making the officers lazy.

They think that if they are forced to be cracked down then they should only do the bare minimum required for their job. That's what this officer is doing. He isn't being a hero. He's retaliating. This is his form of protesting.

They think if they can't shoot everyone's dog and taze the shit out of everyone who doesn't wear a seatbelt then they don't have to enforce the law.

There was a thread about this yesterday which basically said the same thing.

The problem here is that the Cop is deciding the law himself instead of complying with it.
Although he helped this particular guy, for the Cop to think he can pick and choose whether he charges people for crimes that have clearly been committed is scary.

Well he should this is clearly a Cop operating outside the law just because in this instance he did something good doesn't mean next time it wont be something bad.
Because he just "decides" how things are going to be.
That is not his job and its the whole bigger problem with Police these days thinking they are the law when they are not.

Re: Officer Refuses to Arrest Man After Seeing What Item He Was Trying to Shoplift
Police officer Justin Roby received a shoplifting call from a Kroger grocery store in London, Kentucky. After arriving on the scene, Roby found out that the shoplifter was a single father trying to steal a can of baby formula for his 6-month-old baby.

“Me citing him for court wouldn’t have done any good for him,” he said. “He’s already short on money, can’t afford formula, so me making him appear in court, he’s still not going to have any food for that baby.”

But what Roby did next showed the shoplifter what it truly means “to protect and serve” one’s community.

He bought some formula himself, giving it to the man for his baby.

Saw another story a few months ago. Cop pulled over a mom and found her 2 year old sitting in back without a proper car seat. He could have arrested her, but when she explained she couldn't afford a car seat, he had her follow him to the store where he bought her a car seat and installed it for her.

This happens more than most want to admit. There are more good police officers than bad ones. It's just the bad ones steal the show.

Thank goodness for such a wonderful person!

This is a case of the dumb cop. Because next month it will be the same theft. Budgets.

I thought there was welfare for this stuff. Where is the rest of the money going that this guy is stealing formula for his baby? Drugs? Booze? Hey now sometimes those guys also use formula for cutting drugs, and the baby ...well they just don't care, the kid is an excuse.

I love family togetherness as much as anybody else, but why steal the baby food? Why not steal your own food?

I don't want officers getting heart rot about the depravity of their cities. I want them to be safe from beggars and sympathy twisters. Everybody has a sob story, what about the judge he works for? What about the other needy people stealing baby food? How come the local place has not a welfare system to support like that?

Here is my proof for that it was a dumb cop:

[link to consumerist.com]

There ya go, shoplifting rings and drug smugglers.

He stole it because he stole it. Check out my dubiousness of the scenario. I don't know, maybe it's a conspiracy of the cop to pay off the debt upon realizing a buddy got nabbed by the store. And aw, the news guy is propagandizing for the stupid people.
