Correction

'and it looks at though he's kept his promise.'

Should be:

and it looks as though he's kept his promise.

If Chapter 14 is giving us the order in which judgments are to take place during the great tribulation - then we'll see the destruction of mystery babylon first:

Revelation 14:8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication...
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73289002

Many experts believe there are 2 babylons referred to in this verse of Rev 14:8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

If so, it's possible we're going to see them both fulfilled around the same time.

These verses are referring to the first babylon or physical babylon:

Isaiah 13:19 And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

20 It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.

21 But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.

22 And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.

---

Which hasn't happened yet.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73302882

And the prophecy for the 2nd babylon hasn't happened yet...

Isaiah 13:11 And I will punish the world for their evil....

Here's a commentary I posted on mystery babylon and the varied views of what it is - starting with this post, about 1/2 way down the page:

The main character in end times is by far the antichrist.

I've spoken at length and almost exclusively of the AC.

However, there is another major player I would like spend some time discussing.

That is mystery babylon aka the woman on the beast of Revelation.

I believe her downfall is key to the rise of the antichrist and the ushering of electronic currency.

Thread: All prophecies the bible says will happen in End Times are happening or almost completed at present (Page 12)

We have parts of Isaiah 13 coming true today.

When God describes a country - he uses it's ancient name; even in end times.

For instance - it's understood that the name of persia is actually modern day Iran. So all commentaries of the gog magog war agree it's Iran that will be involved.

It's the same here in Isaiah 13 - God says he will 'rise' up the medes - and it looks as though he's kept his promise.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35098512

When God says he will rise up the medes, he's referring to the land the medes originate from in ancient times.

Some say it's the Kurds (Gracethrufaith-Jack Kelley) - other believe it's ISIS.

I think it's ISIS.

ISIS today is spreading a reign of terror throughout the middle east, and parts of Europe; and promise to do the same in the USA.

To paraphrase Isaiah 13

I will rise up the medes to punish the world for their iniquity.

Jeremiah 51:29...to make the land of Babylon a desolation without an inhabitant.

----

Here's an article with some background on the kurds and isis:

ISIS, Iraq, Kurds, and Medes

As the news comes in from the Middle East, I continue to be fascinated by ironies. On a more sobering side, I have to ask myself, “Does anyone really understand all this!?!” You see, on the one hand is fascination, while on the other is the reality that nothing seems to make sense!....

Continue Revelation 14

Revelation 14:8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication...

This is definitely not in ancient times. This babylon made ALL NATIONS become involved in her wickedness.

Revelation 14:8 and....drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication...

What is the wrath?

God's wrath in this verse is predicated on man's fornication and reveals why God will punish this wicked world.

God considers men's relationship in a marriage sacred.

If they go outside of the marriage bed - this violates one of his ten commandments.

His son's relationship with men is like a marriage, and men's relationship with mystery babylon is comparable to adultery.

Mostly yes.

The tribulation appears to last up until the 6th seal, which is when the great tribulation begins.

However, there are some trumpet judgments that may already be in play i.e. 1/3 of oceans will be destroyed.

I believe this is happening today in the Pacific, because of Fukushima.

We have seen that babylon is fallen and receives the full wrath of God - along with those who worship the image and take the mark....

The next verse indicates there is a reward waiting for those who do not waiver in their faith:

Rev 14:13 Write blessed are the dead which die in the Lord hence forth

There are are many who turn to christ during this period of time when the 144,000 are preaching the gospel to all nations.

This will be a treacherous time for anyone who does.

First of all they won't have the mark - therefore will not be able to buy or sell anything.

Secondly, they will be in danger of being killed for not having the mark or worshipping the antichrist.

May God bestow this patience upon us. Observe the description of those that are and shall be blessed: such as die in the Lord; die in the cause of Christ, in a state of union with Christ; such as are found in Christ when death comes. They rest from all sin, temptation, sorrow, and persecution; for there the wicked cease from troubling, there the weary are at rest. Their works follow them: do not go before as their title, or purchase, but follow them as proofs of their having lived and died in the Lord: the remembrance of them will be pleasant, and the reward far above all their services and sufferings. This is made sure by the testimony of the Spirit, witnessing with their spirits, and the written word.

Rev 14:14 commentaries from bible hub:

THE HARVEST.

(14) And I looked . . .—Better, And I saw, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one seated like to a son of man, having upon his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. There can be little doubt that Christ Himself is here intended: the “cloud” (Matthew 24:30; Acts 1:9), the expression “Son of man” (comp. John 5:27 and Daniel 7:13), the “crown,” the general resemblance to the vision in Revelation 1 (see Revelation 1:7-13), indicate as much. The “crown” is the crown of victory; the hour of conquest is at hand. The sickle shows that the harvest has come....

Mathew Henry:

The enemies of Christ and his church are not destroyed, till by their sin they are ripe for ruin, and then he will spare them no longer. The wine-press is the wrath of God, some terrible calamity, probably the sword, shedding the blood of the wicked. The patience of God towards sinners, is the greatest miracle in the world; but, though lasting, it will not be everlasting; and ripeness in sin is a sure proof of judgment at hand.....

We are told when Jesus returns it will be on a cloud; but this verse doesn't indicate he's returning, but judging those on earth:

Rev 14:14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

Rev 14:15 And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.

From biblestudytools:

The harvest is used throughout the Scriptures to symbolize the final gathering and separation of that which is desirable and productive (wheat) from that which is useless and for the fire (tares, chaff). The judgment attending the harvest is often represented by the threshing floor where the grain is separated from the outer husk (2S. 2S. 24:16; 1Chr. 1Chr. 21:15; Jer. Jer. 51:33; Dan. Dan. 2:35; Mic. Mic. 4:12).1

For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: “The daughter of Babylon is like a threshing floor When it is time to thresh her; yet a little while and the time of her harvest will come.” (Jer. Jer. 51:33)

Unless God harvests the earth soon - I don't think it will be much of a harvest :)
