Although war has been going on in and around Damascus since b.c.times it still remains a city. It is one of the oldest cities still inhabited in the world. Something to watch for sure with the isis situation. As far as the ukraine goes all i can say is, what a mess! It's a convoluted set of political machinations that would seem to need a king solomon to figure out. My heart goes out to the people of the ukraine because they have had to endure so much suffering over the years. My heart also aches for the good people of syria. So many political/financial/power hungry games going on now and the common man and women who try to live good moral and loving lives are constantly beat down. It's enough to make you cry, weep and moan and beg god to slay the evil that grips our little blue planet.

Yeah, the EU is totally committed to the Euro project and facing a big embarrassment regarding Greece (and possible future dominoes to fall.) So a real shooting war wouldn't hurt them a bit. It would give their leaders the opportunity to be seen as war heroes rather than financial weenies.
