Well, I'm not entirely surprised coming from the state that has imprisoned 4 out of the last 7 governors for various crimes including corruption and cronyism. Maybe teams will think twice about bringing in ringers, especially in amateur sports. It's got to stop somewhere. Quoting: Nrg:MV8yNzkwODk2XzQ4ODMxMjA1X0FGR???QyRTNECheating, lying, and flopping have become so commonplace in professional sports that kids are getting the wrong idea about what competition is all about. Professional sports and the pro athletes have been a very bad example to the kids. This is not what athletics is supposed to be about. What the heck ever happened to true sportsmanship??? Praise God from Whom all Blessings flow !!! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 59666586 I mean, there's not even money on the line and they still cheated. Do you actually think that the Taiwanese players are 12 and under? Been cheating for decades!!!! Yup, I remember them cheating back in the '70's. |

Quoting: nutmeg They should have checked the LEGAL birth certificates of some of those kids. They do not look like they're 12! Some of those kids do look like they are too old for that division. Heard from someone in the Org. (not my uncle) that a few are indeed too old by at least 6 months, so nowhere near the age cut-off. However, the residency rules were enough to strip the title and the higher-ups did not want to make this about the kids and their families as much as about the coaches & league officials. They were afraid of the racial aspect as well, but if pressed to reverse their decision- as is happening now- this info WILL come out. Also, complaints were made about age & residency at the state playoff level, BEFORE the final tier, but they were ignored and threats made to shut up. That may come out, too. -East Coast LL Division manager |

Who knows, if the JRW team wasn't in the playoffs, what other team just might have made it? Praise God from Whom all Blessings flow !!! |

Who knows, if the JRW team wasn't in the playoffs, what other team just might have made it? It is horrible for the kids. However, this type of fudging the ages/residency happens to a degree in nearly all leagues. It's often swept under the rug, unless blatant (like this case) or more than a couple parents complain. In this age of social media, a lot of this is being nipped in the bud from "anonymous facebook posts" about the ineligible kid in question. Or linking to their parents facebook showing them living in another town, etc... Approaching a state playoff, or when too many tongues are wagging, the ineligible player suddenly becomes "injured" or something. *Poof* problem gone. But this JRW team was too blatant, including the kids' celebrations in their respective home towns after the fact... WTF? Speaking from experience as a kid and now as a coach: The league boards and coach pool need to be swept clean every so often. Too many dicks in there trying to live vicariously through their kids, and screwing it up for all because they think winning above all is the answer. It's not funny, it's not clean, and it's a poor example for the kids. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 3939038 United States 02/12/2015 07:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Why do these parents take it to such extremes anyway? It's not like there's any money in Little League baseball. And kids are getting scouted for the big leagues at age 12/13, not even for college. Seems like there's nothing to gain, except maybe for personal ego?? |

The young men of Jackie Robinson West brought their talent, skills, smarts and hearts to the playing field and captivated a nation by securing a national championship for themselves and our city,” Lewis said in a statement issued Wednesday afternoon. [...] She added: “Jackie Robinson West should retain its title, be issued an apology, and every player should receive full-ride scholarships for college sponsored by the people who have humiliated these boys, their families and their community.” Really, lady? Doubling down on dumb, the Chicago way. |
eatinmraw User ID: 61351661 United States 02/12/2015 10:04 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | They lost their U.S. title because of cheating. They had players outside of their designated area that were on the team. It appears they recruited the best from outside their district, in violation of the rules. The Coach is suspended, and a Commissioner was canned. Quoting: tiger1 [link to www.nwitimes.com] SURPRISE... |

It almost seems like they did so that if they were found out, they could cry "racism!!" You see, segregation and racism are alive and well in Chicago. As the gap widens from the have's to the have not's, inequality rears it's ugly tentacles trying to grab unsuspecting victims into the trap of hatred. It's a war between the north and south sides of Chicago, born from the confines of Wrigley field many years ago where the Cubs play baseball, to the working class neighborhood of Bridgeport (which is mostly Hispanic now) on the south side where Comisky Park stood, home of the White Sox. The working class is no longer, but the resentment is still there, replaced with anger over unemployment and city improvements. In many neighborhoods, you would be hard pressed to see any white folk. Maybe around the first of the month to collect rent, but not in a local park playing ball along side black kids on a baseball team. That's in the burbs. |
