Back then there was Van Halen belt which did not have harmful radiation.

Do you agree without a doubt that they HAD to calculate the exact weight ect... in order to have the exact amount of fuel to be able to go to the moon, then blast off and come back to earth?

Actually it was a total of 5 tons, not 17, and there was enough fuel. Apollo 11's ascent stage had a dry mass of 2180kg and carried 2639 kg of propellant.

The ascent stage APS engine had a specific impulse of 311s (which equals an exhaust velocity of 3047.8 m/s).

It takes about 1.73 km/s delta V to go from the lunar surface to lunar orbit:

Obviously you need at least that much delta V in the ascent stage. Some of the propellant is also RCS fuel (287 kg) which you really don't want to have to resort to using to finish your orbit insertion, so for calculating the ascent stage delta-V let's even treat the 287 kg of RCS fuel as payload instead of fuel. To be uber generous to the claim that the mass is now too high, we won't even consider how much RCS fuel would be burned during the orbit insertion for maneuvering, we will treat it as if we have to carry every ounce all the way to lunar orbit.

where Ve = exhaust velocity
M0 = starting mass
M1 = final (dry) mass
With no payload (moon rocks, astronauts) the ascent stage for Apollo 11 would have 2040.6959 m/s of delta V, obviously well above the required 1730 m/s. Let's figure there are two 80 kg astronauts on board, the mass of moon rocks brought back by Apollo 11 was a paltry 22 kg ( [link to www.lpi.usra.edu] ). Being the first and shortest mission on the moon's surface they brought back the least. With that 182 kg of total "payload" including astronauts their delta V would have been 1936.742 m/s. Still more than they actually need to get back to lunar orbit safely. In fact, the Apollo 11 ascent stage had a payload capacity for another 425 kg of mass in addition to the astronauts and moon rocks before hitting the delta-V limit for returning to lunar orbit. The math proves it.
