Free will must be played out in real time. Even though God knows the choices you will make, He doesn't punish until you have played out those choices. Hell is simply a hole in the ground, your soul is destroyed as if you never existed.

Everyone here missed the elephant in the room: OP has a flawed premise.

God is sovereign. There is no "if." The very first word of the title of the post has the false premise. Those babies didn't die. They lived, were given a free will, but chose death. Romans 9 is clear on this.

Now, why that happened and what that implies is an entirely different discussion, and I'm sure you will find many Arminians and Calvinists who are more than happy to discuss that with you. But with regards to the original question, it is a flawed question.
