He wasn't looking in windows...This is typical brief and cop mentality to manufacture false evidence to support their actions and is becoming all to common within the law enforcement community.....All the article says is the person who called the police told them he was "peering into garages"...I guess it is against the law to look in the direction of a garage while you walk down the sidewalk now according to brief.. What did they arrest him on brief? Illegal Peering?

Peering into garages is the same very thing as looking in windows for shit to steal. The cops were called because a stranger was being a peeping tom, and when confronted he resisted them and refused to speak English...so he got his ass kicked for being an Indian dick.

Hope the man wins a lot of money in his lawsuit so he can receive the best of medical care for rehab of his paralysis. Hope the cop gets a prison sentence.

This is his 1st person account of the event.

The grandparents are here to care for their frNdchild while their son finishes graduate school.

This is in Madison, Alabama, a bedroom community for Cummings Research Park where mostly engineers and PhD's live, literally real,rocket scientists.

You can tell from the background that this is not an area good for stealing anything as it is too open. Besides, the man was on the sidewalk.

He is now partially paralyzed which is expected to go away once the swelling subsides and you can bet this is going to cost the taxpayers of Madison millions to settle. Over $100,000 has. Even donated to the Patel family to help with their expenses in this and his treatment if needed.

There is no history of any problems between the police and the Indian community in the area.

There is an FBI investigation into whether or not his civil rights were violated.

I normally support the police but not this time.

The cops were called for a reason. Even if they were just patrolling, the guy must have done something to get their attention and make them stop to ask him questions. Then it says he jerked away from them several times, if he's so damn smart he wouldn't have resisted them. Mr. genius rocket scientist should have learned some basic English before running around snooping in peoples windows.

He wanted to take a walk. There is no evidence that he was ever off of the sidewalk. Someone called 911 and reported a black man in a toboggan and claimed he was looking in garages but no one ever said windows and was referring to the open garage doors which is ludicrous.

Every 911 call is not legitimate and that one certainly wasn't but the cop slammed him some 90 seconds after encountering him. Patel even pointed to the house of his son and told them the house number. I don't see him pulling away at all. The cop just says he is and slams him in sort sort of mental rage lapse.
Brief, you are the only one saying windows as that was never the claim. He never left the sidewalk. He is elderly and frail and hardly running around doing anything.

Oh, yes, Mr. Hothead Cop has just cost the taxpayers of Madison a bundle and for what? You can tell the supervisor is appalled as he tries to assist Patel and remove debris from his face.

I am only disappointed the cop is just charged with assault and not felonious assault which it certainly was.

Normally, I try to support the police but not this time. This is just plain wrong.
