Looks like older stuff, although smt wasn't in everything consumers have like now. Chips can be unknown because they are proprietary. I have seen some ICs with part #s sanded off. We will likely never know exactly what those boards were for. |

They definitely had ASICS that were much faster than public computers for the time. |

This type of construction and secrecy is paramount for reliability and stopping reverse engineering. This was the good stuff (that didn't exist) in 1989. “To compel a man to furnish funds for the propagation of ideas he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.”; Thomas Jefferson |

Unless it's lightyears ahead of what they give to other parts of the infrastructure which I doubt. If it wasn't exotic it isn't that much more advanced if at all. If it was exotic then it's probably marginally more advanced. Defense contractors aren't looking for state of the art (or of the future) they're looking for "make the most possible from this contract" which means whatever goes into a line manufactured item is going to be more than likely off the shelf depends on the sub though. |

Chips can be used to clock, but are not as perfect, as a crystal. look for a metal can with two wires, and a frequency written on the side, hard to erase, and never seen a blank one. Seen plenty of conformal coated and sanded boards though. That will be the Mega hertz. Im thinking 20mHz... Very slow. |
