I was following Bill's story at the time and that's not how it happened.
Cops in civilian clothes drove up in a pickup truck at night, near his property and started hollering and carousing til he came out to run them off. He always had a 1911 on him when confronting prowlers or troublemakers.
The cops pulled guns, Bill shot one in the head and they killed him.
It was also just before 911.
