There was an Islamic terrorist in the Philippines who was imprisoned -- and broke out. Clearly had help from the Philippine National Police. Arroyo was president at the time and she was f'n pissed. Made life hell for the PNP and the Military. There were repeated several claims that they had caught up with him and killed him -- I believe in hopes that Arroyo would back off and leave them alone. But a few weeks or a month later, the guy would show up and attack some village somewhere -- proving he was still alive. Then the military claimed they got him near General Santos City, where I was living at the time. Said they had a body. Arroyo was so skeptical of her own people, she got on a commercial flight in Manila, flew to General Santos, and had them drive her to the morgue so she could see the body for herself.
