Will someone please explain this!!!! It's frickin mind blowing. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 37770608 [link to m.youtube.com (secure)] It's blue and black. Those who are unable to discriminate precisely may see white and gold. there is no black on this dress. You are being tricked by your brain as well. It's brown You are correct that a color sample does come out brown on the black, but brown wasn't a choice. Everyone is asking white/gold or blue/black, so I said blue/black. That being said, black dyes are sometimes red based. You can tell after the garment begins to fade, or when light hits it. The one used in the dress, apparently, was red based. It is supposed to be black. Anonymous Coward User ID: 67511409 United States 02/27/2015 06:56 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | It is how you are perceiving/interpreting the light in the photo, and that's key. Quoting: geezlouise For the white/golds: Your brain is deciding that the dress is blocking out the light therefore the dress is in shade and therefore it is white(this is one scientific possibility and there's evidence for it). For the blue/blacks: Your brain is deciding that the dress is in a well light room even though the light in the window is very bright (you have probably worked with camera's and lighting more possibly? i know i have, this looks like an iPhone photo and when you tap on an area while taking a photo you can change the exposure a little) and thus your brain captures the true color. It's how your brain is interpreting light, and that effects how you see color(your brain/eyes can actually lie to you, harmlessly). That's my quick analysis. Brain Games, Episode 1 helped too(which I just watched for the first time ever like just last week or something). I see blue/brown(dark brown to black). that's really the only possible explanation. it's just crazy how this one picture out of trillions is doing this in such a striking manner Ok, I wanted to add on to this. I think I'm oine of the people, that just for an instant, thought I saw it change from white/gold to blue/black, but once I saw it, it changed back to white/gold. I thought it was from looking at it with my laptop, while I was on a mostly white background, and my pupils had contracted. And when I scrolled back to the image, it was blue/black, but just for a second, because the image was surrounded by a much darker background. So I went and got my LED headlamp and turned it towards my eyes, and looked at the image, and while it wasn't 100% blue/black, it was MUCH darker, and if that was the way I was seeing it normally, I would have to say it was blue/black. I'm still in the white/gold group though... |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 67178926 thats how it looks if you overexpose a black and blue skirt to the max. amateurs at it. It is strange, if you analyze the image most parts are gold / beige, very small parts are black. It is light blue also in the analysis. How do some people see the whole dress as black / dark blue I don't get :) |
