Passive hunting
This is something many of you have no clue about, and its extremely important in a survival situation to learn. Basically when you are in a real survival situation you're going to be tired as hell.

Going here and there to collect food and water, improve your shelter and do all this without getting yourself injured.

Passive hunting comes in to play when you're sleeping. Snare traps, Indian fish traps, and various other traps can catch food while you're asleep.

Without some means of passive hunting, you will not be able to survive in the longterm. You will always be racing against the clock and start slowly losing as you get beat down.

My recommendation is to learn some passive hunting skills for when the shit hits the fan because if you don't your going to be SOL.
Never odd or even.

Re: Passive hunting
I think most people have at least some clue about this stuff from watching survival shows on Television these days. Every episode of Survivorman with Les Stroud starts with the basics, including deadfall traps and snares. More important than that even, is finding safe water to drink.

Forget eating animals - almost all of the plant matter is safe to eat. Your taste buds will adjust and provide much necessary water. Salt containing foods, etc. and clean water and of course the connection to the divine will see you through anything. This physical world is not the be all end all.

Yes, a good book on edible plants could save your life some day.

You sound like a fucking hippy. Men need to eat some meat, that will actually nurish their body. You sound like you have never been in the woods a day in your life. If your high up in the mountains, sometimes there aint a damn plant worth eating for miles.
