Just got some shields, arduino mega 2560, and a component kit 2 from radio shack. The store will be closing soon. What are other things I should get? meaning other things besides shields. Should I be getting voltage regulators, capacitors, diodes? Ignorant in this area. Any help appreciated.

You'll need an USB printer cable if you want to program this stuff. And an adapter of suitable voltage (5V). Other stuffs depends on what circuit you're making.
