I can't speak for other religions, but Christians regularly sponsor children in third world countries, funding their schooling, housing, and food. Christians run shelters for battered women and abused children, orphanages for children whose parents have died or are incarcerated, addiction recovery facilities, ministries for troubled youth, prison ministries, meals on wheels for seniors, massive outpouring of support for victims of natural disasters, and homeless shelters. And this is not limited to the United States by any stretch of the imagination. Christians do these things world-wide, especially in impoverished, forgotten, war-torn corners of the world. The vast majority of Christians are awesome, well-balanced, educated and sympathetic people. Don't judge a religion by its small percentage of failures. Judge it by its huge percentage of successes. If you're going to rip religious people, you need to carefully qualify your accusations and be specific about whom you're accusing.
